Hello everyone! Creative Director Jason here.

First, the team and I wanted to give a huge "THANK YOU!!" to all of you. You've made made this first day an amaaaaaaaaazing one. 50% of the goal reached within 24hrs!! Again, thank you, everyone.

First point of business, a lot of people have been asking about releasing the game on multiple platforms. The base goal of this KS is for the PC and Mac versions of the game. We grew up playing games like CoZ on consoles so we definitely want to bring it there. But, there are a LOT of costs associated with consoles (ie: backend, achievements/trophies, TRCs, QA, etc). So, our plan is to include console into the stretch goals, which we will reveal when we’re closer to the goal.

Now, to the meat of this update. I wanted to talk to you about the lore of Children of Zodiarcs. It’s something that was important to us from day 1 because it’s something that makes any game world feel richer and more tangible, and a compelling world in which to tell our story was critical. The writer, Damian, and I come from the same gaming background so we were very much in-sync with how deep we wanted to go. So, here is a snippet of the lore, focused on the creation of Lumus, the world Children of Zodiarcs takes place on.

THE TWIN WORLDS

When CELESTA bore the stars into the universe, They sent countless worlds spinning through the universe. Among these were The Twins - planet Lumus and L’Ombra. These two worlds shared many similarities, but they were also very different.

Lumus was a world of light and warmth, green and full of life. L’Ombra was a dark place, cold and scarred by huge barren plains. Both worlds were inhabited by people; the people of Lumus were called the Lumen. They were farmers and hunters, who lived simple, carefree lives and wanted for nothing. The people of L'Ombra were called the L’Ombren. They studied science and philosophy, dreaming of unlocking the secrets of the universe.

In Their infinite wisdom, CELESTA saw that the differences between these two sister worlds posed a danger to each other and They decided that they should forever be divided. They cast a great Veil between The Twins, so that neither planet's children might ever discover their cousins in the other world.

The L'Ombren learned many secrets in their pursuit of ultimate knowledge, secrets which gave them power beyond the Lumen’s wildest dreams. Some say, they had become almost as wise and powerful as CELESTA Themself. But they were unhappy; they longed for a world of light and warmth - a world like Lumus. They searched the heavens and somehow they found clues which led them to a great discovery. Lumus was hidden no more. The L'Ombren defied the creator – they used their wisdom and power to pierce CELESTA’s veil and travel between the worlds.

When the first L'Ombren explorers arrived, the people of Lumus welcomed them with open arms. In return, the L'Ombren brought many wonders to their cousins, who hailed them as Heralds. But the power of their secrets corrupted the Lumen, awakening greed and strife within them. A terrible Magic War followed, threatening reality itself. CELESTA was displeased and They caused a Great Catastrophe, collapsing the gate between the worlds once more. The powers of the L'Ombren Heralds became the stuff of myth and legend

You've seen this image in our main KS text. It shows CELESTA creating and separating the two planets and the Heralds crossing over into Lumus.

Press O’Clock

Some websites have been talking about us! Cool! Here are the links:

So, it’s been a really awesome day. Please make sure to keep poking your friends and enemies about Children of Zodiarcs through Facebook or Twitter. And if you’re using Twitter, use the #ChildrenOfZodiarcs hashtag. Maybe we can make it 100% goal reached in the next 24hrs?

And lastly, I want to give a shout-out to a Kickstarter that caught our eyes. It’s the graphic novel Girrion Book 1. The art is amazing. Has a Otomo Katsuhiro-esque vibe to it. Amazing progress in such a short time! Congratulations!!! =D

Also, kudos for kicking it forward mentioning the other kickstarters.

I would have mentioned you on Soul Saga's kickstarter page, but we just had an update and I think your campaign will be done before I make another update there (don't want to spam people). Totally glad I found you in time to back, though! =D

Now that you are using "CoZ" to refer to yourself I'm going to start calling this game, "Call of Zootey".
