This project is the brain child of Bob Murch of Pulp Figures fame. He has sculpted 99% of the figures which you are about to receive. His knowledge and experience with the Cthulhu Mythos is excellent and it is the driving force behind the Black Sun Universe.
The rules are based on our Flint and Feather rule system with the original rules written by Howard Whitehouse and Roderick Robertson. If you know about their rule systems you know they are fast playing with multiple levels of intricacies which can be tailored to the use of the players involved.
Help Bob Murch bring this project to life.
All the following group of figures have been sculpted or packs are nearly finished sculpting during this Kickstarter.
We are offering these packs to our supporters for $15USD per package as a preorder item until August 19. After this point in time the packages will go offline until we release them at our usual MSRP of $18USD on or after November 1st.
We have scheduled Nov 1 as the release date because we need to finish the sculpting, do the mould work and then cast and ship the figures.
If you are interested in this product and would like to support us at the special introductory price for the new products. Items that were released previously will still be at the $18USD price. Finally, if you order items that are not part of the release with these new Black Sun Preorder figures we will hold your order until all items can be produced.

The Black Sun Story
100,000 years ago the Lemurian civilization rivaled Atlantis. Lemurians, unlike the Atlanteans however, were not a human species but were instead reptilians descended from the age of the dinosaurs. Both races were highly advanced in the occult metaphysical arts which were based on a science unlike our modern technology but immensely more powerful than anything humanity has since achieved. Both civilizations simultaneously vanished in a cataclysm of their own making, perhaps a great war between the two. The Ice Age ended, the glaciers melted and the oceans rose, swallowing the Atlantean and the Lemurian continents leaving little behind but legend.
Deep in the remote reaches of the Cambodian jungle lies a lost city, Angkor Sek. The ancient Khmer people constructed their city on the ruins of a much older city, Tau Tau, an outpost of the Lemurian Empire. Beneath the Great Pyramid of Angkor Sek is the Lemurian Heart of the World, a giant crystal of immense power once used to alter time and space. This living jewel still breathes, and at intervals alters space time creating dimensional rifts. One of the rifts leads to Black Sun.
Black Sun is an alternate dimensional version of the Cambodian jungle, but one that has trapped beings from throughout time. On the surface, it is a jungle world like it’s Earth counterpart but the rules of physics are not always consistent with our world. Sometimes rivers flow upwards, rain falls as razer shards of ice and most of all, the Sun, which never sets, is black at it’s core and yet sheds a withering bright radiance which creates a steaming and humid atmosphere.
In 1968 the Vietnam War rages. The communist supply line known as the Ho Chi Min Trail, cuts through Cambodia, attempting to avoid American air power. At the height of the hostilities, Angkor Sek becomes a massive storage depot of the Ho Chi Min Trail, at least for a time. That is until an ancient evil awakens and alters the destiny of members of both sides of the Indo-China conflict and hurls them into an alternate dimension of peril.
Black Sun is a 28mm scale Tabletop Skirmish Miniatures Game. Players choose their faction, set up a Team and play against an opponent trying to complete objectives to win the game. At stake is the survival of the team in the many faceted Black Sun alternate universe where the rules of earth may or may not continue to apply. The safe return back home by the group is the ultimate goal.
You can choose any two Factions as part of your Starter Pledge.
The US Army has been fighting a war in Vietnam for over ten years at this point and the public at home is growing tired of the loss in young men's lives that is occuring in some remote far off country. Little do they know that some of the soldiers listed as MIA are really in another dimension fighting to get back home, back to anywhere that looks like the earth they left.
The Adaro are native to Black Sun, or at least have been in the dimension for as long as their clan can remember. They have recently captured or negotiated for weapons from earth and have upgraded their weapons to fight the new threat of the factions called humans.
The Fury Bugs are so named by the grunts that have met them in the field because they turn a bright hue of red when enraged. This also causes them to charge into fixed positions with abandon. The Fury Bugs belong to a much larger hive mind collective.
The Deutsche LIG (Lemurianische Untersuchungsgruppe) was a successful (or unsuccessful depending on your point of view) expedition to the Himalayan Mountain region in China looking for the lost city of Lemuria. They were successful when the freighter they were aboard disappeared with all hands into the Black Sun event. They have been stuck in Black Sun since 1938 and now look to the day when they bring their super weapon back to Earth and supply victory to German war interests. They have allied with some Ghouls that they have since met and befriended. They also have created German Shockwave Super Soldiers that will be opened as an add on.
The Golem is a freak supernatural event that occurs within Black Sun. It is a being of pure energy that pulls inanimate objects to itself to create an unnatural creature. It can never truly be destroyed as it will just pull itself back together again. It's weird power source also tends to animate dead corpses which may be in its area of influence. For this reason it is always accompanied by a shambling horde of undead zombies.
The Viet Cong Soldiers have been fighting for freedom from imperial aggression for over forty years. Their victory over the French at Dien Bien Phu created the new and free country of North Vietnam. Now the struggle continues in the southern parts of their country against the Americans. But for these men something has changed. They are not just fighting for liberty they are fighting for survival in some strange dimension that only marginally reminds them of home.
The Black Sun rules are based on the same structure as the Flint and Feather Game System. So if you are familiar with these rules you will be able to pick up the Black Sun system quickly and easily. Once again Howard Whitehouse and Roderick Robertson have teamed up with us to provide the basis of this outstanding rule system.
There are two main changes in the Black Sun Rules. First, gone are the Combat Cards that are such an inherent part of Flint and Feather. Now Close Combat is an extension of the Shooting system.
Secondly, and more importantly, the players create their squads based on Force Cards. Now figures become special characters each with their own abilities and skills. These skills are listed on each card with the 4F standard. The 4F is the primary statistics in the game and each figure has a 4F Rating. The four statistics that make up your 4F rating are Fighting Value, Frag Index, Freakability and Frostiness. Each measures a different important aspect of the game. Main characters also have abilities which are distinctive to each one. Here are some sample cards. These will be printed and supplied in the Starter Set and higher pledges.

Risks and challenges
Much work lies ahead. We need to cast, package and ship all these miniatures. However, we are a manufacturing company and we both have experience producing miniatures. This is what we do and we know how to produce a great product. This is also not the first Kickstarter we have produced. We have successfully shipped two other Kickstarters.
In our Star Crush Kickstarter we did not have the final three models sculpted and this held up our fulfillment date. However, Bob Murch sculpted some great starships and our supporters were happy with the result.
Some of these figures have already been in production while others have been sculpted. Some work still needs to be done in sculpting and production but this will depend on how successful the Kickstarer becomes. We are well ahead of the curve. So join us and get some great looking figures at a lower introductory price.
We have set a date of January 2020 to get the rulebooks printed. We have previously published the Flint and Feather Rulebook so this will be the second rulebook we will be processing. A book is a long process but it is not an overly complicated procedure. We also have quotes for markers, cards and dice from reputable manufacturers. It is just a matter of getting the funds and getting the products to production. All these items are readily available in the marketplace.
We will take the paypal address of each supporter when we do the post KS survey. Our usual shipping fees are $10USD to the USA, $15USD to Europe and $20USD Overseas. You can expect to pay these prices if you are supporting us at the Starter Set Pledge Level. If you pledge for add-ons you can expect to pay up to double these amounts, and even more if you would like your package sent Air-mail. We will also offer a Historicon delivery to those that would like to take advantage of our attendance at that convention.
We are a small but experienced team, and we seek to be smart in our planning and expectations. Bob Murch has been sculpting figures since 1980 and successfully runs his own miniatures company. Most of the figures for this project are already sculpted or even in production and have been shipping now for six months. Lee Van Schaik has produced several projects on Kickstarter so he brings knowledge of the program to this project. In any case, we will be happy to refund pledges if for some totally unforeseen reason the game can't be delivered.
Our estimated delivery date for the miniatures is January 2020. Remember, these dates are at best only an estimate. Also, due to the logistics of international shipping, backers in different regions of the worldwill receive their rewards at different times.
By backing this Kickstarter you are pledging to help the development of this product. It may ship on time, it may not. If uncertainty is not acceptable to you, please do not back our project and wait for the figures and game productes to hit retail shelves. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Finally, this project is introducing these figures to the market at a special Pre-order Kickstarter price. We expect them to be available for general sale in the near future, however, not at the great deal that this introductory price provides. This is a Kickstarter and it is designed to facilitate those that support us and believe in the product we are developing. We will however have these figures available for sale at shows we attend regardless of when we ship this Kickstarter product. If you wish to pick up the figures at a show we are attending that will be possible but the prices will not match this Kickstarter.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
