The Handyma’am Coverall is the first and only of its kind. It’s a fully functional, fit-forward coverall made specifically for women. We designed this piece so you can withstand long hours and tough work while still being dressed to impress. Now with two weights, we are finally able to provide all-season protection, comfort, and flexible durability.
If you’re a woman who get’s sh*t done you’re always on the lookout for the right tools for your craft. The blades, the brushes, the hardware, the software, and the apparel. But when it comes to workwear, finding clothes that are durable, functional, and stylish is nearly impossible. With most heavy-duty coveralls being made for men, women looking for that rough and tumble wardrobe to get the job done are left out in the cold.
That’s where the Handyma’am Coverall comes in. We’ve created a durable coverall made to be a daily uniform for hard-working ladies who own their work and their style. A functional garment that looks great, fits great, and is built to last.
Being a woman in today’s world is hard work, and hard work needs tough sh*t. Are you a metal worker? Our heavy-weight option is made with double-knit 10 oz. canvas with a weather resistant coating that deflects the heat. Farm worker? No problem, these coveralls are 100% washable. Gardener? The double-front knee means twice the life and added cushion when pickin’ them greens. Wood worker? No sweat. Snag that lightweight 100% cotton ripstop and don’t stop rippin’! Or are you the lady who just likes to break it in and wear it out? We see you. We’re in the business of covering all, and that means all women. Whether you are a maker, a hobbyist, or you just like the ease and comfort of a one-piece outfit, the Handyma’am Coverall will be the piece that completes your kit.
The coverall is tailored to show your shape while being relaxed enough to move in. The princess seams allow for more room and contour in the bust. The adjustable tabs at the back give shape to the waist when you want it and release when you don’t. The working back and action darts in the elbows grant maximum mobility while offering a sleek flattering shape. Create your best work while werking your best look.
From the beginning it’s been important to us to produce Handyma’am garments in the USA. It’s the only way we could be sure to avoid supporting the fast-fashion industry and all of the unsustainable and inhumane practices that go along with it. But it turns out producing clothes here in the USA isn’t as easy as it was 70 years ago -- especially when it comes to producing a garment with heavy fabric and lots of details. We’ve had to move our production four times in order to find the perfect fit. But we’ve finally found it. We are now working with a woman-owned production house in Maine to make this next round of coveralls a reality. This factory not only meets our standards, but has helped us to streamline our production process in order to deliver the best garments possible.
We started Handyma’am two years ago when we produced a small run of our very first coveralls. Since then, we’ve outfitted farmers, metal workers, landscapers, jewelers, hobbyists and jumpsuit enthusiasts alike. And we’ve been blown away by the positive feedback not only from our customers, but women who have followed along and felt inspired by our desire to bring light to a community that has otherwise been overlooked.
Until now, Handyma’am has been entirely self-funded. We’re where we are because of side hustles, day jobs, and the desire to write women into the workwear aisle. As we ramp up for the second round of coveralls, we need your help to move forward. By pledging to support Handyma’am you’ll be helping us overcome high production minimums, expand sizing for our growing community, and get a head start on developing costs for future styles.
The Handyma’am Coverall is offered in two weights to keep you covered in any situation. The heavyweight coverall is made with double knit 10 oz. raw cotton duck canvas and a water repellent finish so you can do the rough stuff in the tough stuff. Our lightweight version is made with a 6 oz. cotton ripstop that offers comparable durability with an easier break-in and more comfort in the warmer months. Both have extra deep front and back pockets, a secret pocket, a utility pocket, and a hammer loop. Our lightweight has two breast-pockets with button closures, and a pen-slot. And the heavyweight has an arm pocket instead of breast pockets to cut down on bulk. Both styles are equipped with a double-knee and traditional flat-felled inseams making these suits tough as nails.
Once the campaign ends you will receive a more detailed fit guide. At that time, you will be able to select your size. If we don't get it right the first time we offer free exchanges! Sizes we offer are below:
We started Handyma’am Goods because we wanted to create well made, well fitting products for a community that was otherwise being overlooked. Women have a long, but seldom recognized place in trade work, and it’s time for them to have proper workwear that is fully functional and fit for the female form. Our goal is to broaden the image of what it means to be strong, feminine, and capable.
I’ve always been a Handyma’am myself, even before I knew what it meant. From cutting hair to dabbling in woodworking and set design, I’m someone who loves getting my hands dirty and feels charged with confidence when I’m wearing the right clothes for it. When I feel good in what I’m wearing, my day is just better. And when I meet someone who inspires me, I work harder. Handyma’am Goods was born because I saw a need for more of both of those things: clothes to make badass women feel like badasses, and space for them shine and be inspired.
Risks and challenges
While delays are always a possibility in the apparel manufacturing business, we are going to work very hard to keep to our expected delivery dates. The good news is, we’re ready for manufacturing now. The designs and samples have already been finalized and the materials have been sourced so we can push the GO button as soon as the campaign ends.
This will be our first time offering international shipping. Although we will do our best to give a timely delivery, because we are diving into new territory there may be unexpected delays. Of course we will keep you updated every step of the way!
Sizing can be tricky. We will do our best to send you a detailed fit guide once the campaign ends but if we don’t nail it the first time we do accept exchanges!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
