I left the arms longer for you to be able to cut them down or you could put them in the torso area and tendrils below. More variety and easy changes that way. I know most of you have multiple kits and I'm working to make things interchange where possible.
Yeah, I DEF be modding my legs to look more like the concept art, still standing on them rather than outward from the body and more husk-like.
Tides, I agree, but that's what green stuff is for ^ ^ ...or maybe I'll just print my own bitz >D
*worm, not work
I'll be leaving the legs off my work, but other than that, I love it!
I don't think the individual tentacles have quite the same believable texture to me that the main body does, still thinking if I want to somehow make mine smoother or less round. But I love the face tentacles and head ones :)
Any thoughts on the "arm" tentacles or am I the only one that feels that way?
@Gallahad- DOH!!! I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the inspiration. ;)
It looks like it would be easy to trim down the legs to a shorter size. Personally I really like them as is.
I think the legs would look better as in the concept sketch. They seem to thin and long. In the concept they look like hooks, kinda like a snake has for breeding.
Really cool model and seeing the detail that has come out on the head in the cast (last photo only shows it) looks sweet! I look forward to getting some paint on these things!
The legs look like they are there for stability. The model may be a bit top heavy without them. Still, if you attach it to a base shouldn't be a problem. I think they would work better as tentacles than clawed legs - that part of the model seems to help give it the ability to rear up and still move forward which most 'worms' couldn't, I like it from an evolution perspective. But they do look a tiny bit out of place.
This is awesome. The legs are meh for me too.
Looks fantastic! The Trollcast is sure looking good!
Looking awesome , Ed!! I think personally the legs are too horizontal. I'd prefer them closer in and more vertical, but nothing I can't just change myself =) Can't wait to see the rest of the line!!
Good to hear. Not entirely sure about the bottom legs either but meh, I needed a few bits like those for other purposes anyway :)
It's great to see the actual casts - and with so much detail! Looking really good and exceedingly alien. Next up - flyers and stealth dudes! I still would love to see tiny transparent wing 'buds' for the stealth guys... You know, stealth dudes would really benefit from limited flight or hovering abilities!
Thanks everyone I just wish I could be done for all of you. I'm very excited for all of you to start getting your rewards so I can begin sculpting the next sets of items I have planned next summer or so. I'm making a good headway into this now and all that has been missing so far are the stealth swarms, queen guard and swarm bases. Everything else has a very good start with those last 3 being the least roughed in. :)
These guys are begging to be put into my savage worlds apocalyptic game. They just look incredible.
Not that I ever had any doubt about this KS but if I did they'd be totally settled after seeing that. I so cannot wait to get these. Just awesome. Everything I was hoping it was. Ed u certainly have not disappointed.
That's just awesome looking! These are my favorite kind of updates - I love seeing the sculpts and especially the real casts. The only problem is they make me impatient to get them into my grubby hands, so I hate them, too. :)
Looking great Ed! I probably won't add the little legs at the bottom to mine, but I'll wait until I get it to make a call. The detail looks excellent.
I still wish it had a few more smaller tentacles along the sides, and the tiny pincers looked cool on the concept, but nothing I can't mess about with on my own once I get it.
That said I do love it as is too, and the cast quality looks outstanding!
Every time I see a new post I'm torn between loving the model and finding it so deeply disgusting that I wonder if I'll ever be able to touch them to paint. I can't look at these things without imagining them slimy and squirming under my hands.
Holy crap! That looks incredible Edward! What's the height of it?
That is the troll cast production cast from our spin molds. These are what you all will be getting. I'm working hard to get the best possible quality and knowing the material I can cut parts the best possible way. All our own range has been turning out like this as we go and I've invented a few trade secrete items to improve also. :)
is that an actual cast rather than a resin master? if so, colour me impressed (rather than tan, lol)!
