Why Kick-starter? The recording of Symphony No. 2 is my biggest and most expensive project yet. Since it’s a big endeavor, I am reaching out to you through Kick-Starter to help me make it possible. Kick-Starter allows my fan base to be directly involved in this making this recording a reality.
So what’s the new project? I composed Symphony No. 2 between May of 2010 and October of 2013. It is probably my greatest effort and accomplishment as a composer. My primary goal is to complete a full scale orchestral recording of this composition. At the end of June of 2014, I will be traveling to the city of Teplice in the Czech Republic, the hometown of the North Czech Philharmonic (http://severoceskafilharmonie.cz). They are under the direction of conductor Vit Micka, who has more than 20 years of experience in the field of orchestral conducting and recording. The orchestra hall has already been reserved, the score has been submitted to the conductor for studying purposes, and I am in the process of mailing the orchestral parts.
Why should you support this project? The recording of Symphony No. 2 is a fantastic project and is probably my best composition yet. However, a recording with 62 musicians is a very expensive undertaking! If you help fund this recording of this composition, you will not only help me to accomplish my goal, but also will support a fantastic European Orchestra and a unique conductor. You will facilitate keeping the tradition of orchestral writing alive in both the United States and Europe. Your generosity will build cultural bridges between two great continents; furthermore, our collective effort will inspire the next generation of composers and performers. I am positive that a recording of this magnitude will have a positive impact in their lives. Whenever you have the final CD in your hands, you will have the personal satisfaction of knowing that you helped to make all this happen.
The Costs: Your contributions will help us to pay for the following things: • payroll for 62 musicians • hall renting costs • producer, sound engineer, editing • conductor’s fee • flight to Prague to oversee recording GRAND TOTAL NEEDED: $15,000 OUR KICK-STARTER GOAL: $8,000 You know how Kick-Starter works. My goal is $8,000, but if we don’t raise the full $8,000 in the time allotted, we get nothing. I am surely hoping that this doesn’t happen, but I need your help. We don’t want to just meet our goal: we want to EXCEED it. Please donate and help spread the word about this project. I am hoping that you will tell your friends and family members so they too can become a part of this exciting project.

This is not the first time I have embarked on a project of this caliber. Back in 2009, I recorded my first symphony with the Moravian Philharmonic (also under the direction of Maestro Micka), and it was extremely successful. However, I had no other choice but to pay for all the costs of the project myself. While the ends justified the means, I hope to get some help from you this time on this exciting, but frankly, financially stressful project.
Everything is in place for this recording to materialize. The orchestral score is ready and the parts will be delivered in the spring of 2014. The hall is booked. The musicians are on standby. In short, I have done everything I possibly can do at this stage to ensure that the project will succeed. I have faith that we will raise the money needed to successfully move forward.
