My Kickstarter campaign aims to support the production and presentation of work for my solo exhibition in NY and a group show with my fellow classmates. As a result of two years of work during my MFA studies, I have an ambitious installation that can only be produced with your kind support.
The money raised will be used for all the steps in the production of the artwork: film, paper, processing, framing and materials involving the installation of the show to make sure the project achieves the quality and shape that I am aiming for.
As someone diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder at an early age, school has not been my easiest task, so it is extremely important for me to come to the conclusion of these years of photography studies with a body of work that is strong and compelling. Educated as a pedagogue and having worked with youth and children for years, I thrive to contradict the stigmas and false beliefs that people with ADHD have to grow up with, such as the idea that aiming for a higher education will be a failed attempt for someone with our condition.
Most of my images involve hours of retouching, construction and manipulation in order to create atmospheres and environments, and with your support, I will be able to have the installation that I want. Besides production and framing, I will also use the money to invest it in lighting. There is also a video element included in my show that can only take form if I am able to get the technology for it. It is not very complicated but it will cost over a thousand dollars.
In exchange for your generosity, you will receive different gifts (cards, zines or prints) and an personal invitation to both shows. You can even get an image created just for you based on a story of your choice (mine, Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man, inspired the last image shown on my video).
No matter how much you contribute with, you will have my eternal gratitude and the certainty that your money will be well spent.
Please share this project with your friends and thank you for your support!
