If you celebrate tradition and craftsmanship, if you have fallen under the spell of mechanical timepieces and if you are craving for more, for something new - then you're about to discover the watch collection you have been waiting for all along. Let's begin...

Almost a year ago my parents asked me to help clearing out their basement. Cold, dull walls? Spending a Saturday morning amidst dust and spiders? After a stressful workweek? Rather reluctantly I agreed to fulfill my family duties.

Down there, still grumbling about my precious time, I discovered my grandfather's paintings. Yet stowed away for so many years and already dusted into oblivion, instantly I was set back to my childhood days. A fresh ocean breeze stroking my face, the sound of seagulls above and the smell of the old fireplace where my grandfather used to tell us adventurous stories of his seafarer's life. At once I felt not only at ease with myself. I also sensed this inner longing to go out there, to explore the world and seek adventures.

Holding the painting in my hand, I decided to capture the unbridled spirit of the sea, fashioning its essence into unique, hand-crafted timepieces. An heirloom from the depths of seafaring history. That day my grandfather's paintings laid the foundation for this one-of-a-kind bronze watch collection.

Some of my grandfather's paintings: the port of Büsum (left), the Gorch Fock (right) and the Earl of Abergavenny (bottom).

My dad and grandmother Gretel in the Port of Büsum.

My grandfather Peter (left) on a sunday walk at the coast.

My Name is Andreas and I was born and raised in Germany. I dedicated the last five years of my life studying and educating myself in a passion that has been pervasive throughout my whole life: the passion for mechanical timepieces. Being a product designer, combining these two competences was the next rational step for me.

To my side, I have a team of passionate experts, consisting of professional watchmakers, engineers and craftsmen. Every single one here breathes and lives our mission every day and within every single watch we craft.

Stress, restlessness, 9 to 5 - we all know them and experience them in our digitalized fast pace lives. We are convinced that it’s time to step back and breathe freely for a moment again.

Our mechanical timepieces, whose underlying mechanisms and principles remained unchanged over decades, are packed with the adventurous spirit of seafaring history and nautical exploration.

As it did for my grandfather, the sea helps us to relax and slow down in our fast-paced world.

Our mission is to craft timepieces that will let you taste the salty ocean breeze anytime the daily grind is getting ahead of you.

"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever."

- Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Our collection consists of two bronze automatic watches that took a small team of professional watchmakers and designers around 20 months to develop and 3 generations of prototypes.

Please note: all watches shown within this campaign are 2nd generation prototypes. Very slight changes will be made within the current 3rd generation of prototypes.

Turning the 'HMS Victory' Into a First-Class Bronze Timepiece

On October 21st, 1805, the world witnessed one of the largest naval battles ever recorded as hundreds of bronze and iron cannons roared across the calm sea near Cape Trafalgar. Spearheading the battle was the massive vessel, HMS Victory, whose superior firepower played a key role in defeating the enemy that day. We gave this unforgiving warrior roman indices inspired by its plimsoll line and radial sub-dials uniquely shaped like the rifle of the cannons used by the Victory. Highly luminous sword hands pay tribute to its warship heritage. This watch will urge you every day to build your legacy, one moment at a time.

Turning the 'Earl of Abergavenny' Into a First-Class Bronze Timepiece

Launched in 1796, the Earl of Abergavenny was one of the largest trading vessels operated by the East India Company. It was a light armored vessel with immense storage capacities, which embarked on risky voyages into unknown terrain within the Indian ocean. We brought this glorious ship with its countless voyages to foreign ports-of-call back to life.

Genuine precious stone inlays within the dial, reminiscent of those carried by the Earl of Abergavenny on its voyages to East Asia, pay tribute to its trading heritage. The dial, crafted in the shape of a ship’s wheel compliments the starboard and port sidelights which serve to guide the adventurous through mist-enshrouded seas. An intricate and exquisitely detailed face pattern pays homage to the vessel's advanced hull construction. This watch will make you sail away from the safe harbor.

The Last Call Of Duty At a Stormy North Sea Dawn

Genuine Precious Stone Inlays

By far the biggest challenge in manufacturing the Earl of Abergavenny was its precious stone inlays within the dial. As an homage to the trading heritage of the vessel, we use small quantities of snowflake obsidian, lapis lazuli and white marble stone.

The dials are wet cut directly from the raw stones, polished and mounted on the dial - all done by hand. We needed multiple attempts to have the inlays matching the rest of the dial in thickness, diameter and most importantly aesthetics.

As nature creates every stone in a unique appeal, every watch is one of a kind.

White in color during the day marine blue at night. Hands, bezel and indices of this collection are filled with BG W9 (Swiss Superluminova) Grade A (highest grade of BG W9). We source the lume directly from the world famous manufacturer RCTritec (better known as Superluminova).

Port and Starboard Lights

As a homage to the position lights on ships, we applied luminous red and green lume pips on the inner bezel of the watches. The red light at 9pm indicates the port-side and the green light at 3pm the starboard-side of the ship.

Sails and rigging were a prevailing element of the HMS Victory as well as the Earl of Abergavenny. Paying tribute to this thick tan thread decorates the ends of our vintage watch straps.

As raw material we use the finest saddle leather the german pastures could offer, finished off with a few gentle swipes of sandpaper giving it a slightly used and vintage look. These straps are extremely robust and made to last.

Our watch straps are 100% handmade here in Germany.

The saddle leather is finished with a few gentle swipes of sandpaper, giving your watch the vintage look it deserves to represent 18th century seafaring.

All our leather straps come with bronze pins and buckles.

All our straps are handmade in Germany.

Taking a glance at the backside of your watch you'll immediately get sucked into the agitating life at sea within the 18th century. By using extremely high pressures we deform the center part of the case back,  turning cold stainless steel into unique art.

According to it's respective models, both watches feature intricate artwork of the two corresponding 18th century sailing ships on their back. Doing so we used original paintings and construction plans from the two vessels, to recreate the shape, details and ratios as accurate as possible.

 Caseback Earl of Abergavenny

Besides the true to original embossed picture of the Earl of Abergavenny, it features the following lines (written italic) surrounding the center part.

  •  Name: Earl of Abergavenny
  •  Quote: Catch The Trade Winds In Your Sails
  •  Class: East Indiaman
  •  Wreck Date: Wrecked Weymoth Bay 1st February 1805

Caseback HMS Victory

Besides the true to original embossed picture of the HMS Victory, it features the following lines (written italic) surrounding the picture.

  •  Name: HMS Victory
  •  Quote: Build Your Legacy
  •  Builder and Launch Year: Chatham Dockyard 1765
  •  Class: Last Ship of The Line
  •  Participation in Historic Battles: Battles 1778 ~ 1781 ~ 1782 ~ 1791 ~ 1805

Both models (Earl of Abergavenny / HMS Victory) have a bronze side plates mounted to the side of the case indicating the name of the respective vessel. The edges of the lugs are polished, beautifully harmonizing with the polished hands of the watches.

Bronze was commonly used by shipyards and armorers of the 18th century. Usually hulls were fitted with copper and bronze plates, protecting the wooden hull from the so called naval shipworm, which represented a serious threat to the ships. Furthermore many nautical tools and cannons were made from bronze.

Using this complex and expensive material was the only rational choice for this collection.

In collaboration with copper manufacturers we developed a customized type of aluminum bronze with the elemental formula CuAl8. We reached an incredible high purity level of around 92% copper and 8% aluminum. The higher the copper portion within the alloy, the more beautiful it will patina over time.

Our watches are made in the hometown of watchmaking, Pforzheim.

To provide a flawless timepiece and to live up to our quality promise, there will be a total of 4 intense quality control tiers for every single watch.

These controls will be performed by different watchmakers on each tier to avoid human error.

Genuine Leather Watch Roll

Most of us have more than one watch, in fact usually a couple. This watch roll is a perfect storage place for your watches, protective and portable. Next time you are traveling, you don't need to worry about which watch to wear, just bring them all!

Our watch rolls are hand cut and handsewn with tan thread, much of the same material used for the sailing ships' rigging, long before modern composites replaced it.
