"I dont just sing about the blues, but I live it everyday." -Cedric Burnside
Hello, my name is Cedric Burnside. I started playing drums at a very early age growing up in Holly Springs, MS. My family didnt have money for drums so I would beat on things like pots and buckets and such. After lots of playing I caught the eye of my "Big Daddy", Mr. R.L. Burnside. At the ripe age of thirteen, I started touring with my grandfather all over the world; spreading that Mississippi Hill Country Blues. After "Big Daddy" passed away in 2005 I continued to play music. I continue to play music to this day and will most definitely play music until I no longer can. "I don't just sing about the blues, but I live it everyday." Words from a song I wrote truly gives you the idea of my life in the blues. I have performed and recorded with R.L. Burnside, Burnside Exploration, Jimmy Buffett, T Model Ford, Bobby Rush, Honey Boy Edwards, North Mississippi Allstars, Galactic, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, John Spencer Blues Explosion, Big Head Todd & the Monsters and Mr. Charlie Musselwhite.
"I was born a blues baby, raised a blues child and I'm gonna die a blues man." -Cedric Burnside
The music is recorded and now the hard part begins. Funding this wonderful project and making one incredible Mississippi Hill Country Blues album is the reason we are here.
We are very excited that we had the priviledge to go into Electraphonic Recordings Studio in Memphis, Tn to record this new album with Producer/Engineer Scott Bomar. Scott has been Grammy nominated for his work with Cyndi Lauper, Al Green and Anthony Hamilton. His credits also include the soundtracks to the movies Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan. Also in the studio helping with the mixing is longtime friend Amos Harvey, who definitely has an ear for our music.
As you know, or don't know; after the death of my brother, Cody Burnside, the Cedric Burnside Project has been myself and lifelong friend and guitarist Trenton Ayers. With this new album, we will be adding multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Garry Burnside to the mix. Garry is my uncle and the son of Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Mr. R.L. Burnside. We are very excited to be adding Garry to this band.
