About this project
Take This isthe tentatively titled debut album from Jason Dottley featuring the killer production of Chris Vieno, a duet with the Princess of Country Music Georgette Jones (let's welcome her to dance music!) and much more!
When I first moved to LA, I recorded two demos my first year there. They were crap. Eight years later, with the help of Louise Beard, I recorded three singles: Party Round the World, Hit Playand Pop It. Since 2009, I have been lucky enough to spend nearly 7 months collectively on the Billboard Dance Club Play charts and place my first three records at #19, #30 and #22 respectively. My most recent record Pop It not only went Top 25 on Billboard, but was my very first single to chart in the UK, and boy did it ever, landing in Music Week's (their version of Billboard) Upfront Club Chart at #10 after being the highest debuting single of the week before that. In addition, the video for Pop It was the first video I'd released that received both US distribution through Promo Only (on the same disc as Madonna and Rihanna!) and internationally through Power Promotions in the UK.
Fans have asked since I started when I would record my first full album and I do believe that the time has come. After going through one of the most difficult times of my life these past five months, writing music has been most healing to me. I've assembled an amazing team for this record. Country music's princess Georgette Jones will be recording her first dance record with me as a duet! Chris Vieno will be producing the entire record (see his bio on the "About You" page), writer Melissa Font has co-written one of my favorite tracks to date with me and Chris, a new artist BassTramp has co-written a fierce jam with me and will be featured on the record, and there are more production surprises to come!
I will be using the same record promoter, Brad LeBeau, that I have for all of my records and he is, without question, the most successful dance record promoter in the States. He has this to say about working with me: "Mr. Dottley has consistently demonstrated an over-the-top desire to excel in all facets of the entertainment industry. From song writing to recording, from performing to self-promotion, Jason has and will go to any creative and administrative lengths to achieve perfection - thus securing three consecutive Billboard charting singles. I am honored to include this über-talented young man in the ranks of fellow PRO MOTION clients Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, The Crystal Method, Gloria Estefan, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, Shakira, Robbie Williams and Nicki Minaj."
The amount we are raising is just enough to record the album. We hope to EXCEED the funding goal as much as possible to be able to afford the best PR, marketing and other tools to make this record a massive success.
The record is tentatively titled Take This and to offer you a small insight into the project, here are a few working titles of some of the tracks:
- We're Not Over Yet
- The Beat That Don't Stop (Featuring BassTramp)
- (I Wanna F*ck a) Cowboy
- Cocaine and Whiskey
- Sexual Embrace
The album will be a very contemporary, cutting edge mix of late 80's rock, 90's pop and blazing French House all stirred and mixed into one amazingly fierce electronic, pop record.
I can only make this album with your help. My fans have been the most amazing support system to me over the years and I look forward to doing another project with you all. Who needs a major label deal when you have fans as amazing as I do? :)
