Let's make this album together!
I'm really excited to get this latest batch of songs into the world, but I need your help to do it! I gave everything I had to get Bloodhounds recorded, mixed, and mastered (and get my video made!) to give you an authentic sample from the album, but your support helps me move forward with the rest of the album. Your pre-orders go directly into the expenses of recording, mixing, mastering, and production expenses that I face.
- Recording: $500/song (7 songs = $3,500)
- Mixing: $200/song (7 songs = $1400)
- Mastering: $150/song (7 songs = $1,050)
- CD production: $550
- Vinyl production: $1,000
- Worldwide Digital Music Distribution: $100
Total Estimate: $7,600
So why am I not asking for $7,600 instead of $5,000?
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform. While my stretch goal is definitely $7,600, I'd much rather have your support as my foundation and pay for the rest out-of-pocket than risk paying for everything out-of-pocket as I can afford it, which would grind my progress to a much slower pace. These songs are ripe to be heard, and I don't want to release this album in a piecemeal fashion as they might lose their timeliness. In a time when bluesy rock is on the rise and strong female songwriters like Angel Olsen, St Vincent, and Deap Vally are gaining attention, I can't risk withholding these tunes for any amount of time aside from what's absolutely necessary.
I'd really love to have you be part of the process, and I'm so grateful for your support. Let's build this album together!
Risks and challenges
Because I haven't started recording the rest of the songs yet (aside from "Bloodhounds"), it's unclear exactly when the album will be released. I would like to get into the studio in January, and I set what I think is a realistic goal of having the album delivered by September of 2017. It's possible that it may be available sooner - and possibly later.
The cool thing about this project is your ability to get involved in a very real way. As soon as this campaign is over (and successfully funded!), I plan to start working with my Producer's Circle immediately - sending them home recordings, videos, and lyric sheets of songs I plan to record and getting feedback, like which title they like better, or when they think the guitar solo should come in, or if they think a line of the lyrics could be slightly adjusted. I will take everyone's feedback and apply the most popular and effective feedback when it matters most - in the studio. My Producer's Circle will also hear the drafts of what we do in the studio and be able to offer feedback on that progress as well (e.g. wanting louder vocals in the mix, liking the second keyboard solo more than the first, etc.). This gives you the ability to be in the passenger seat and experience the whole journey with me!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
