THE STORY, THE IDEA
Well, it started a little over a year go with two guys having a beer at the local drinking hole (ok so one of us was having a cream soda but nvm :). And lo and behold when we went out to our cars there was a wet blowing snow / sleet falling. My buddy and I looked at each other and got out our snow brushes and went to work cleaning our cars. When we got to our mirrors, we turned and looked at each other, like we were about to tell a joke, but in fact the same thought went though our minds, a mini Squeegee to properly clean the mirrors.
The two guys are both 3D designers by trade. My friend is a CAD (Rhinoceros 3D) salesman and designer and I am an Industrial designer with 15 years experience in product development and manufacturing. We both share a passion for designing quality products that feel good, and make sense.
We started with the common problem when cleaning your car or truck mirrors. We then found many more uses for the mini squeegee like semi tractor trailer side mirrors, motor cycles, boats and several other in home uses. After several months in front of our computers designing the ultimate mini squeegee, we came up with the first 3D design.
We then proceeded to make a few prototypes and tested them for form, fit, and feel. Although they worked well, they lacked a little certain something - something. Back to the design we went. What it needed was an ergo dynamic feel and a beautiful design finesse that people would instantly want to hold.
So back to the drawing board we went. We did many sketches evolving and designing the 3d form to create something beautiful that also would work well.
After several months of sketching, 3d printing, and testing the design is finally complete, and the Mini Squeegee is ready for you. We both agreed that Kickstarter is the greatest new age way to market and launch products.

We've come a long way. The Squee-Kee-Kleen graduated from idea on paper, to Sketches, to CAD, to prototype, to multiple colored prototypes and now it's ready for the market place. We're gearing up to launch a full-scale manufacturing run, and we can't do it without your help.

This is a picture of the 3D Printing process we used to make prints for the silicone mold prototyping process.
With a lot of small companies today, venture capital and startup capital is very hard to find. This is where crowd funding is the next generation of raising capital. We believe that Kickstarter funding through its supporters encourages local businesses to create quality products which in turn create local jobs in our communities.
So that’s why we are going direct to YOU, the consumer. While we don’t have a big production and marketing budget, we do think our product solves an age old problem of cleaning small mirriors.
After spending the past 12 months designing, prototyping, testing, Squee-Kee-Kleen is almost a reality. Our factory is ready to start production, but we must first complete the tooling and fund our first orders. We have had many past successes creating products for other clients, we have not had the opportunity to create and bring to market our own product. We are very excited and enthusiastic to finally achieve the launch of our first in house product, the Squee-Kee-Kleen........
Manufacturing experience and ability
The good news is that we already have the manufacturer lined up and ready to go! He has quoted us a price for the molds and we can definitely cover it with this kick-starter campaign.
We have made many products with this manufacturer in the past for other clients, and have vast experience tweaking and adjusting the manufacturing process specifically with this molder. He has already looked at the 3d we have developed for this product and sees no problems. He loves the 1 part unibody molded design and thinks it should be super simple to creat a mold.
Our manufacturer will cut the injection molding tools from solid block steel. It takes him about a month to cut the tools once we have funding approved. We will start the injection molding as soon as the tools are cut, so about two weeks after tools are cut and we can begin to fulfill orders. He has made many plastic tools for us in the past for other products, and we have great confidence that he can perform for this simple product.
If this goes large volume and we have 100's of thousands or millions of orders? No problem. We simply make a multi-cavity tool. It is a small enough product that multi-cavity tooling is possible. A multi-cavity tool is a tool with several cavities so that when the plastic is injected, several parts are made at once. Our manufacturer has great experience in this . He currently makes injection molded plastic dials by the millions for one of his clients!
We're on track to deliver the first batch to our Kickstarter backers by November 2013. We think they belong in every car, truck, buses, motorcycle, boat and home, starting with yours.

Risks and challenges
We are very experienced in the design and manufacturing of plastic and electronic products. We have been involved with dozens and dozens of other clients commercially launching their products for over 15 years.
With any new product design there are always risks and challenges. Surprises can occur at any point in a project. We believe the risks involved with brining Squee-Kee-Kleen to market are minimal and manageable. As a two piece rubber product, the Squee-Kee-Kleen is very, very simple, and very, very effective. Less is more, which is good news for this simple production process.
The challenge for us was testing different materials to make sure that the Squee-Kee-Kleen would last and work in a large temperature range with the same results.
We have built complete prototypes in all the colors and they have been tested thoroughly, but have not yet brought them to the market as we lack the financing for tooling design, and machining.
The only things that may interfere with the delivery of the Squee-Kee-Kleen would be scheduling complications, such as bulk material and colorant availability, or in the off chance that we are unsatisfied with the production finished quality. In either of these cases, we would simply need to delay delivery briefly until we are satisfied with production. Otherwise, the Squee-Kee-Kleen is a proven design. The production prototype is identical to the final product, so we are confident that no design modifications will need to be made.
We can't wait to let the KICKSTARTER world see what's in store for them. We will begin production when we meet and exceed our goal on our closing date.
