M8 is a revolutionary mini scuba tank that allows you to enjoy the underwater world for up to 18 minutes. Besides it can be refilled by the user, as well described later. M8 is an idea born from two newly graduated friends - one in Aeronautical Engineering and the other in Business Management - and its purpose is to approach people to the underwater world in a different way. Thanks to its simplicity, everyone can use it: both certified divers and people without diving experience
> M8 gives independency: thanks to a specifically designed valve, the refill can be done in complete autonomy, without the need of a diving center. There are three ways to refill your M8:
1. Three-stages hand pump
Unlike a common bicycle pump – which can reach at maximum 15 bar – this pump has been designed to compress the air till a pressure of 200 bar
2. Portable electric mini – compressor
It is more comfortable than the hand pump as for effort. The refill only requires about 3 minutes and the weight of 14 kg allows you to carry it everywhere. It is also equipped with a specifically designed water tank – realized with a 3D printer – to enable the water-cooling
3. Scuba tank
It can be used as main tank from which drawing compressed and filtered air in order to refill your M8. This procedure is possible thanks to a special connector that makes the refilling process very quick – less than 1 minute. Moreover, it allows you to use your device also abroad, where the compressor transport could may be difficult, while a scuba tank is always easy to find
> M8 is easy-to-carry: thanks to its lightweight – less than 2.5 kg – you can carry it with you during your trips around the world
> M8 is easy-to-wear: in less than 2 minutes you are ready to dive. It comes with a handmade neoprene harness that is skin friendly and gives stability to the cylinder once you put it on your back
M8 has been studied and designed in order to be used with no problems in shallow waters – less than 10 meters deep. This way, all the problems related to the compressed air breathing are avoided. Instead, the relative license is required to use this device in deeper waters.
In fact, the risk to face nitrogen narcosis and/or DCS – “decompression sickness” – is essentially null because depth and permanence time are reduced. Moreover, the use of dive tables or divecomputers is not required. Besides, we will give you together with the device a PDF in which we will explain you how to perform a correct and safe dive. In this way you will avoid possible lungs damages.
Dive tables indicate 152 minutes as maximum permanence time at 10 meters deep to avoid the decompression at the end of the dive. This value makes us understand that also repeated dives within the 10 meters are safe for our organism.
About air quality, M8 refill accessories are equipped with special filters that eliminate particles, oil, smell and humidity. Moreover, it is recommended to avoid refilling near polluting sources such as car and industrial exhausts.
* autonomy varies with diver experience and environmental conditions. It must be remembered that at 10 meters deep the autonomy is halved because of the water pressure increase
