Kickstarter Premiere and Final KS Update

This past Tuesday night (May 27) was our official Kickstarter premiere for Nontraditional at Anthology Film Archives as part of NewFilmmakers New York.

It may not look like it in this photo, but it was pretty hot and humid in NYC that day. This is Anthology Film Archives at 2nd and 2nd.

We were very glad that our top backers and Executive Producers Matthew and Ellen could join us for the evening. We all had dinner at Cafe Mogador in the East Village prior to hosting a small reception on the landing just outside the Courthouse Theater on Anthology's second floor.

NFNY provided us with a table for a display and reception supplies, and we happily took advantage of it with some prosecco and Montepulciano!

The reception included many friends and backers, including Matt McNamara and Meghann Plummer, Michael Meagher and Naomi Singer.

We also met a couple of the filmmakers from the shorts block that screened just before Nontraditional. This is Michael Lamarra, whose short "Surface Tension" screened that night and who asked us some great questions during our Q&A.

You can view all of NFNY's photos from that night on their Flickr here.

As you might expect of such a fine institution, Anthology's theaters are equipped with excellent projection technology. We have had the pleasure of watching the film on several theater screens over the past seven months, and this was far and away the most astounding experience. The image was extraordinarily sharp, and the sound was rich and clear. A filmmaker cannot ask for more!

...Except perhaps for thoughtful and engaged viewers, and we had those, too. We fielded a number of intriguing questions from our audience that night. One that (maybe surprisingly) we had never answered before was about the experience of writing for a lead of the opposite sex. Great audience. Great questions. A wonderful screening!

After leaving Anthology, a few of us headed over to KGB Bar a couple blocks away for a few drinks. That's a story in itself. Maybe the next movie!

This wraps up the Kickstarter for Nontraditional. Please like our Facebook page and visit the film's web page to stay informed about where the film goes from here.

And one more time, THANK YOU ALL!

What a great evening. Ellen and I are so proud to have been just a small part of your project. We are looking forward to seeing what you do next.
