The most comprehensive Tennessee football preseason magazine returns this summer.
Rocky Top Tennessee is an annual publication from the writers of Rocky Top Talk. It's sort of the same thing as Lindy's and Athlon and all of those, but it differs from them in a couple of crucial ways. First, instead of a couple of pages on the Vols and 100 pages of teams you couldn't care less about, Rocky Top Tennessee is 112 pages of nothing but the Vols. Second, unlike some other publications devoted to Tennessee football, ours is 100% ad-free. So yeah, it's All-Vol from cover to cover.
It's professional quality, but it's written from a fan's perspective -- by Vols fans for Vols fans. That unique way of looking at things allows us to bring our undiluted and pajama-clad blog personas out of the dark and onto the printed page, and it means that we are able to toss in a little humor and a few good-natured shots at our rivals while we were at it.
This year's edition includes (but is not limited to) the following:
- Unit previews
- New coaching staff features (hey, it's practically a regular feature!)
- A handful of articles on the effect Butch Jones is having on former players, current players, Tennessee high schools, and incoming recruits and commits
- Opponent previews
- Features on the new offense and the new defense
- The importance of Year One upsets
- Several historical/anniversary articles
- And more!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Regular readers will know that the RTT staff (and guests) have been writing and editing the magazine since 2009. It was published by Maple Street Press and distributed by an unnamed national distributor until 2011 when MSP went under, and we self-published via print-on-demand and ebook last year. This year, we're wanting to (1) get the price back down to a reasonable $12.99, and (2) get it back onto the newsstands. Both of those goals involve pre-printing and a host of additional expenses relating to distribution and circulation, which is why we're opening this Kickstarter project. With your help, we want to get it back into the grocery stores, book stores, drug stores, and gas stations all over Knoxville and the surrounding areas.
