Seen / By Everyone, a new play about living (& dying) online
$25,277

Seen / By Everyone is a theatrical mashup of the uniquely 21st century experience of mourning and moving on in the digital age. Cat videos, photos of ultrasounds, proclamations of loneliness, and the endless gloating of lives well-lived coexist with heartfelt final goodbyes to, now, ghosts in the machine. What does it mean to live, die, grieve, and keep living in the era of (over)sharing?

Conceived by and starring a core group of five writer/actors (Matt Cohn, Amir Darvish, Meg MacCary, Enormvs Muñoz, and Jenny Taher), the play has been in development for over a year. It is directed by Kristin Marting, assistant directed by Noel MacDuffie, and also features Rolls Andre, Jens Rasmussen, Vanessa Kai, Katie Bruestle, and Lauren Annunziata. On the design team are veteran talents Eben Hoffer (sound), Christopher Heilman (sets), Ray Sun Ruey-Horng (video), Oana Botez (costumes), and Ayumu “Poe” Saegusa (lights).
The play will premiere on June 4th, 2016 at HERE Arts Center in Soho, New York City, and will run for four weeks. This is an ambitious, provocative, and timely show; thank you for your support as we explore life as we live it (and, then, don't) in the 21st century.

Risks and challenges
We have almost everything in place. We have the script, the space, the talent, the gumption, and 75% of the funding. We need $20,000 to bridge the gap. Of course we aim for greatness which is why your support is so vital! To make something truly special, we plan to not only compensate our talent with a dignified wage, we want to create a beautiful show.
Here's a sampling of what it costs to make a show, and what your donation will help provide:
** $10 six shot glasses (props for the play - promise:)
** $25 one roll of gaffers tape (we need many!)
** $50 one gallon of paint
** $75 one day of rehearsal space rental
** $100 one costume
** $500 entire sound budget
** $750 one day of theater rental
** $1500 entire light budget
** $2000 one artist's salary (we have 17 artists!)
Making art, sharing it with the world, working collaboratively is a risk but that's also what makes it so exciting and your support means the world! (Psst: Join the Party!).
