Over 100 people backing SKATE OR DIE!
First off, to those of you who have pledged support for the project, I want to thank you so much for your generosity. We have reached a point in the campaign where we no longer personally know most of the people pledging. This is exciting because, while we thought we could count on at least some support from friends and family, strangers usually only donate to things they actually believe in. We are receiving such positive feedback from pretty far and wide, it appears people really do believe in our film and agree that this is a story that needs to be to be told.
With all of that said, we have raised around $6,600 so far in 11 days. To reach our target of $35,000, we need to average $1,000 per day in our 35 day window. So while we are short of that average so far, the hope is that the project spreads farther and farther across various networks and the contributions grow exponentially. But for this to happen, we really need your help. Even those who have already made financial pledges, we gratefully ask you to please continue passing this project on via your various Facebooks, Twitters, emails, or even just plain old word of mouth.
A couple of exciting announcements:
- We recently received extremely kind and supportive promotion from the Tony Hawk Foundation on their Facebook page. This amazing foundation helps build skateparks in underserved communities around the country, including a skate park featured in our film. Check out their two posts about the film at the below link and then those of you who are on Facebook, please 'like' and more importantly, share the posts with your friends. Every little bit helps. - I was asked to come by tomorrow and be a guest on the movie podcast CinemaJaw (http://cinemajaw.com/wordpress/) which is recorded here in Chicago. We will talk about SKATE OR DIE a bit, but then will talk about documentaries in general, including each selecting our top 5 docs ever... in the whole world. Which having to come up with that is a pretty unfair task, but it's all fun and I'm thrilled to be doing it and the guys over there have already been really supportive of our project. We record the podcast tomorrow and it will be released next week, so stay tuned for that awesomeness.
- Lastly, I'm working on adding a couple of cool new incentives in the next few days to hopefully give us a much needed boost. So stay tuned for that... especially if you like standup comedy :-)
A heartfelt thank you to all our supporters once again. We absolutely can't pull this off without you.
