      Nice Kraken research :) Loving the art of this game thus far!

      Just a tent, but it brings me memories of me playing grandia and other games like that. Wonderfull work.

      From a design view it's really neat to see how elements of real life have been put together to create the kraken.

    4. Jasae Bushae on

      Wow...The kraken is slightly more awesome than I anticipated...

      Oh, and that transparent thingy is kind of like the squid's cartilaginous pen, and it's where the Kraken keeps the photosynthesizing organisms.

      @Christian,

      I can barely make out the kanjis, but it seems that a strange mound that a certain country considers a religious site is actually a Kraken's moulted shell, having been left to the elements for so long that it seems part of the natural landscape, save for a very strange-looking 'horn', which says something about its ancient age. As for the beast itself, it is 19 kilometers long in our reckoning, have a crustacean-like shell and squid-like tentacles depending on which part we're talking about. Because it is so large, it cannot support its own weigh on land and can only live in the sea. (You see the lowest 'leg' is missing. It's actually rotting, I think, because that leg broke off, unable to support the weight.) However, it's also so heavy that it will just sink to the bottom of the sea by itself, so it must constantly keep itself afloat by....taking in air and keeping it in pockets inside a porous and transparent skeleton? In order to maintain a constant supply of gas for itself, it's host to algae and other photosynthesizing stuff and therefore has to float fairly close to the surface in order to absorb sunlight. Poisonous gases will also do in a pinch, though, it doesn't have to be oxygen. Could be methane or something else.

      I missed a couple of lines where I just can't see the kanjis properly and and I may have gotten things wrong, too, just because the text is so small. But I believe that's the gist of it?

      Can someone translate what the text in the Kraken pic says? My experience with OCR of Japanese text plus subsequent Google Translate is "utter desaster" even with high-res pictures which this is clearly not. I'm especially curious what the transparent thingy in the upper right corner is.

      Looks great, Like Zarum and the final IOrcs look great, The implied traditional Native/Indian dress gives immediate character definition without even to make background. Demon A looks good but c and d torso is to small. They look like dwarf demons to me.

      While the tent interior early model inspires confidence till we see how the character art is transformed into ingame assets we can't make any conclusion but that you are starting with a good base.

      What an awesome update. thanks guys for always sharing such fantastic content. I don't have much time to get involved in the community, but I love seeing and reading what is presented. I feel really happy :D

      Very nice Art! The Kraken reminds me of Eden from Final Fantasy VIII though. ^_^

      That Orc in-game looks so grumpy :) It looks great!

      Seeing that Chrondorian tent interior though... this is giving me a Suikoden vibe. It's just as stylized as a great, older-school JRPG. But it's higher res, higher poly, better lit, super sharp and super clean. And even though it's not a lot of in-engine stuff we've seen - hardly any 3D stuff, really - it's still great whenever you show us anything. All this art is looking seriously good!

      That Kraken lives up to my expectations. Absolutely fantastic!

      If the in game assets are only half as good as these concepts then we've got a stuningly gorgeous game to look forward to. Amazing art.
