Our Plans for the Road Ahead...

Now that the Kickstarter portion of the campaign is over, we begin the long process of bringing Project Phoenix from the concept stage into its final form and blazing glory!  Naturally, we’ll keep you all up to date with what’s going on in the back end, giving you more peeks into the developmental process, whether it’s gameplay, artwork, or story.

From here on out, you can expect an update every Monday through a developer's diary format along with maybe a few smaller updates during the week if warranted.

Developer diaries allow us to open it up so that our staff can go through their thought process and allow you to our team your burning questions!  And the first person stepping up will be Project Phoenix composer Tomoki Miyoshi!

If you’ve been following the music development on Project Phoenix, you’ll know that Tomoki’s showcased the theme for the Elven Glades on the CIA Soundcloud account and has a few other Elf-related themes in the pipeline.  Professionally, Tomoki’s also composed music for the SoulCalibur franchise.  Feel free to submit any questions you may have for him in the comments section by Wednesday so we have enough time to compile and send to him!

And seeing how much people enjoyed getting the chance to interact with us, we’ll be sure to schedule at least one Google Hangout a month.  This should give you all the opportunity to ask whatever questions you may have about the game and comment on any of the art, music, and the other assets that we’ve released during that month.

We also wanted to feature a more concise version of our previous Google Hangout since this actually functions as a pretty decent Q&A!  Credit goes to JMod Angel for video editing and BRSxIgnition for the question cards!

So what's up for this week? We’ll be addressing the subject of pledges, rewards, and, most importantly, the forums really soon.  Cronus is working pretty hard at getting all of the logistics for that down, so I’ll be turning it over to him so that he can update you accordingly!

Coming tomorrow! Only a few hours! Well, if they keep on posting updates with KS hours at least. Of course it's already monday in some parts of the world...

      Question for Tomoki Miyoshi:
I'm sure you get asked a lot, can you tell us about your studio setup? What is your favorite software and sounds? What are some surprising things you learned about yourself and about music while composing?

    3. Manji Uzuki on

All music samples that we get so far are quite good :)

      @Tomoki Miyoshi:

How did you get into game industry? Do you think that composing music for an RPG is more challenging than other type of games?

    4. Shiru XIII on

Looking forward for the next updates !!!
The music are truly awesome, they are master pieces !

Keep up the good work :).

    5. Lostman on

      Need more music :D

    6. Daniel Iron Skill Gonzalez on

      Tomoki Miyoshi:

Do you use descriptions from character designers and/or world designers to influence your compositions?

Do you compose music harmonically or melodically? writing chord progressions must be really difficult with sweeping, epic, video game music.

Would it be possible to get a paypal update weekly or monthly just to give us pledgers/fans of Project Phoenix some rough idea as to how the funds are progressing? I'd love to see how far we can get with the stretch goals.

@CIA: Do update the store soon, okay? I've found a couple more people to buy in, but they are waiting for the store to change, before they pick something.

How did you get involved in Project Phoenix?
What are your expectations for the game?
What is the most challenging aspect in composing music for a video game?

Wow! An update every monday? That is awesome. :)
      Und sogar auf deutsch! XD

Will the musics be longer than the samples?
I found them to be very short :)

Man, the three of you are still hard at work on all this. That's dedication! So impressed with you all...

Question for Tomoki: "What is the inspiration for making this music? When i heard the first time, it make me remember Enya's song + Lord of The Rings Soundtrack.."

More Hangouts, please! Loved the first one.

    15. Trypetide on

@Alexander : yes it's normal, the forums will be open soon, but till then you'll have to wait a little.

@CIA: +1 for weekends Hangouts, and I vote for a Saturday time frame to offer really everyone a chance to be here. (like Saturday to Sunday night maximum)

    16. Particle Accelerator on

@Alexander The forums are not ready yet.

    17. Gustavo Loureiro dos Reis on

Hey, has the project gotten more support from PayPal? How much are we up to, now? I thought the numbers would be at the beginning of the update Dx

But, anyway, GREAT update! It's AWESOME to have this certainty of at least one update every monday! Keep up the good work, guys!

Please arrange the Hangout on weekend so everyone could enjoy.

The first one was on weekday, an employee like me can't join in no matter how hard I want to.

I Love that, perhaps do it on Youtube... with VLogs, like 22cans.
And Maybe a 24/7 Webcam in your Office... i love to watch those :)

More music samples from Tomoki Miyoshi, yes please.

    21. Maxime on

@Edward too early to tell I think. When they get some visual stuff, maybe in-game videos, pledges might go up faster. If they do get such footage before closing paypal, that is!
I'll try to think up questions before wednesday :D

So it's perfectly normal I haven't received an e-mail voucher to set up my forum account?

    23. Edward T. on

Had the project gotten more support from PayPal? If so, realistically speaking, do you think we'll be able to reach the next stretch goal with PayPal?
