Dear Project Phoenix backers,

Apologies for the late update, we've been very busy with Tomoki's concert featuring "I am Setsuna" in Tokyo. However, the rest of the development team has been hard at work and making progress.

We also have news which would hasten the development of Project Phoenix in the long run, but we will be making that announcement when it's secure. I am really happy with this development and it is currently our top priority to secure this deal. We will have to make sacrifices to make this deal work, but we owe that to this project and backers.

Yoko has made a number of changes to the Story to have a smoother feel to the First Act. Namely, the introduction to each character and how they become a part of your party. She is now working out details and is almost ready to start with the scripts.

Daniel has come up with a mechanic to change NPC behaviour dependent on the time of the day / night. To be exact, from when they wake up in the morning, go to work, to eat three meals and go back home. This could create complications but also opens up a myriad of possibilities for the players to explore, like some quests can only be opened at certain times of the day or you can only meet certain NPCs during a specific time, at a specific place. We will be testing this concept more in times to come.

Although I did promise to talk about music, Tomoki and I have been very busy preparing for the concert with Tokyo RPG Factory / Square Enix. I know this hasn't got nothing to do with Project Phoenix but I promised transparency is important, plus this event was very public. It also shows the quality of music we are capable of producing. Here's a site to "Winter's End" where you can hear snippets of Tomoki's work.

We will definitely talk about music production and present a new track by Tomoki in the next update.

Again, apologies for the late update, and we'll see you back in two weeks.

All I want to know, is can i have a refund yet? Its been over a year since we've seen any actual game assets and I don't like the direction this development is going.

@Lisa - he is doing music for the game...but he is not the ONLY composer (and that has been pretty clear since the funding campaign was going).

I thought Nobuo Uematsu was doin the music for the game? That was pretty much what drew me in to backing this project for the level I did.

Pleeeeeease don't make the entire soundtrack consist entirely of ONLY piano music (like I am Setsuna) That was actually a deal breaker for me buying that game.

At this point I really care less about the game (I will get it eventually, so not worried there) and care more about watching you guys progressing through as a company. Keep it going guys.

Thanks for the update, guys! The daily schedule for NPCs sounds like it could be really interesting, though it does make me wonder how easy it'll be to skip ahead if, say, we don't want to just wait for somebody to wake up before we can make progress.

Speak for yourself, I loved figuring our the NPCs schedules in Radiata Stories. It was barely a shore since the game gave you a decent party anyways if you just followed the main storyline.

Learning how to recruit new characters was a blast.

While that sort of NPC schedule does help to make a game world feel alive, I have to say, in terms of the actual gameplay impact, it's almost always a massive pain in the arse. Trying to track down NPCs for specific quests that can only be done at certain times in Xenoblade and Radiata Chronicles in particular were both massive chores that sucked a lot of the fun out of the game.
If you guys do go ahead with such a system then please at least make sure you give the players some sort of way to find particular NPCs as they go about their schedules.

      Glad to see another update,

The new secret deal sounds embarrassing or at least a complete new company that sounds like they will work on the game for the deal. ? I do wonder what sacrifices your making for this to come out in any format just so the game can be done....

The quest system sounds great, I do wonder if you will then start making random generation or one massive world in witch you will have to move about in to get from one place to the next to complete them.

Are you going to have testers for this ?

The whole 24 hour 3 x a day eating habit sounds interesting. I am seeing this done in another game i have backed but they have a lot more in terms of a game than what i have seen come out of this.

I dont mind the fact you have a good music artist, it depends on if your going to use that iwsely or sparingly like the game. As it now seems the games scope could be much much bigger than what i have ever seen or could be seen from this game.

I hope it doesn't take you that much longer to do another update.

I have always tried to ask the hard questions and get down to the bottom of the problem when you release an update but remember making updates is a small thing when you have lots of people watching.

      Till next time.

I do wish you and your team the best! We're rooting for ya!

Glad to see you're trying your best for Project Phoenix :)
As I am currently playing I Am Setsuna and completly felt in love with the music, if Tomoki-san's work is as good as the work he did for I am Setsuna, I'm sure a lot of people will be really pleased with the original soundtrack !
I am happy to see that à behavior is planned for NPCs, since almost every JRPG with "low" budget ( I mean by that, not a AAA game like Final Fantasy) has little to none behaviors made for NPCs.
Anyway, Keep it on, guys !
