Pilot Tycoon is the new flight simulator adventure game for the mobile phone. Work your way to the top as a pilot by doing various story line missions in multiple pilot careers.
Enjoy your life in an open world and buy new airplanes and properties to make your life even better.
Just when you thought your uncle had the perfect pilot job for you arrive at his farm with a small dusty runway. Not really what you expected and even that beautiful airplane he has been talking about looks more like scrap metal then an airplane. But hey what can you do, its time to start your first job.
Who knows what is going to happen
We will go a bit more deeper in to the story and show you the features of the game.
The 'game story' that you have seen above tells a already a bit of the main story. You have been studying hard to Finnish the flight academy, but your having trouble finding any job, but that uncle you have never heard before is talking about those needs of pilots on his Island and promises you that great career.
But when you arrive at the island its not really what you expected. But hey he gives you one aircraft that's somehow still able to fly the AT-301 air tractor also known as the crop duster. And will give you a few bucks for every farm field you spray for him. Well what can you do, the island looks like a paradise somehow strange enough made completely for flying. Prove him that your a good pilot because his aircraft hangar has much more scrap metal to offer, and who knows with his contacts around the island what more he can offer.
Welcome to the Pilot Tycoon island where almost everything for a pilot is possible.
Pilot tycoon is not a real flight simulator and is actually more an adventure, action flight simulator game, with a kinda comedy style. And the story and adventure plays the main role in it, although the flight physics of each aircraft are realistic. But we will go more in to that in the development section.
When i told other people about this game and the idea i sometimes heard 'isn't that just a Grand Theft Auto (Airplane) copy. Well I'm never gonna compare it in any way with that but it is what i actually miss with the current flight simulator games out there. Yes you will be able to buy properties and upgrade your airplanes, you will meet new contacts along your story missions and improve yourself being a pilot. This is definitely not a game where your only job is flying from A to B.
So its just one island? No you will be able to fly to different other areas and especially the military missions and airliners missions will take part in other areas. So does the space missions strange enough.
First of all lets talk about where we are at the moment.
We are currently busy with creating the missions of the game together with the flight physics of each aircraft although 50% of the mandatory airplanes for the missions are already done. Some of the scenery comes together with that although that is mostly done. The most problems that we were facing with the scenery except that we already have all the objects for it is that it will be hand painted at the end. At the moment we are just using formulas based on the height of the terrain to create the textures on it automatically to give us an idea how its going to look like. That's why creating the first trailer wasn't that easy as it just shows the first pieces of where we are going and lot of spots are left blank it in it
The reason why we paint it and fill it actually at the end is that its an island and areas made for flying so many things and ideas come from different mission ideas. Everything was on paper and so were the missions but things kept on changing and so did the whole environment. And we are actually happy we did.
We will display some of the game play things and issues but we will keep it short to a few things. You can ask any questions in the comments.
The goal is to make the game simplified, realistic and fun at the same time. There are a few things that aren't going together here. Flying an airplane can be easy but complicated also. Flying on the other hand is always fun so we didn't need to change that.
So whats the most complicated part about flying, well in most cases that would be the landing of the airplane its not only complicated it also takes a lot of time.
Of course you can easily land the Pitt special on the ground but landing a Boeing 747 is kind of different so we developed the auto landing feature for that. When you arrive near an airfield you can easily choose the auto landing feature to just Finnish your job or transport quickly. Landing manually will of course be more rewarded and there for a visual in game ILS approach will be available.
Here we had to made some scarifies but were thinking about doing a 2 level difficulty of flying. At the start we made our airplanes to realistic but we noticed that its not going to work out directly as we want to create this game for everybody. We still have to decide if this is going to be the same for the online rankings or that we create it separately also.
There is no need to take off every time and fly to your mission objectives all the time. We try to keep the missions as short and bring you right in the action.
One of our biggest struggles i think so far but we are not going into detail that far but our key is getting the most out of it. Its not the quality but combining it to make it run on most of the mobile phones. Its one of the things i think every (flight simulator) developer on the mobile with 3d graphics faces. You want to have as much as detail at once possible. We had to make a lot of sacrifices but like i said were getting the most out of it. You can compare it creating a website with nowadays technology for a 9600 baud modem. With the graphics and models we have we also have the ambition to make a PC/Mac Version from it since we can do so much more.
Creating the mission in your mind is easy making it reality in the game sometimes is not. But the beauty is that even when you don't develop anything yet you can already think about the missions and put them on paper an this started already more then a 1.5 year ago. We will make sure we have a nice thrilling story line put together that wants you to fly and keep on flying and make progress.
Properties & Offices
Making money in this game and developing your career as a pilot is one of the main goals of the game. Spending money will be also, There will be various properties available in game. Properties will gain you mostly more start locations for your airplanes and a better way of living. Offices are needed in different places mostly on airports to be able to land and takeoff without to many costs.
Airplanes & Vehicles
As we said already before there will be over 50 vehicles to choose from. This doesn't mean all of them are airplanes we are not going to much in to detail on this one yet but for example in one mission you need to use a boat to get to the aircraft carrier to steal a jet.
More on the development will be in the Q&A we will be creating later on and we want you to ask your questions also. We will be happy to answer them.
There has been a lot of development going in to this game for a long time.
And since the start i have been funding it myself but i think Kickstarter is a way for people to Pre-Order the game and fund it in the meantime. We made a lot of progress and this game is going to be finished (even without support). So why do we need the money.
The campaign goal is 3500$ which is actually not even enough for everything, but we hope that this campaign will run successful and will gain more then that.
This is a summary of things that we really need to make this project a success.
- 3D Engine (Unity) license cost
- 1x Android License 1 x I phone License 3000$
- Unity Pro license (windows phone, Black berry, extra performance and graphics) 1500$
- Creation/Drawings of the main and mission characters.
- More lands and countries to visit
The reason we need the licenses is that were currently limited in our possibilities and our visual graphics are also. We want this game to run on a cheap tablet and currently that is possible already but with the license we could offer more graphics on low end devices. Another thing is the limitations of the different areas to visit, with the license the amount of areas will be unlimited and we can create even airports for multiple countries, and we can offer it as downloadable content and also can offer more in the future.
And that is actually just the small story but it would help so much not touching the boundaries each time creating this game and we just want to be free of what we want to make.
The team consists about me, friends, freelancers, and flight simulator
modelers. With the company I'm running i have a lot of experience and
contacts with freelancers that are creating various things and objects
in the game.
There is of course a reason why i started a flight simulator kinda game since i have a background as a glider pilot and always enjoy flying.
And so do my friends who are actually active in aviation for example Walter Kroese who is the level designer and airplane flight physics creator for this game but as full time job he is also a Boeing 737 Co-Pilot.
Besides that i have been contacting some great people that have been creating airplanes and models for the other famous flight simulators and they granted me permission to use all of their work to be used in this game.
I also have a lovely girlfriend who supports me in all the hours I'm working on this game and helps me also with various aspects of the game.
When will the game be released?
The current release date for all platforms is July 30.
On what platforms will the game run?
The game is currently developed for the Android, IOS (I phone), Windows Phone and Blackberry. We also have the ambition to develop a PC, Mac & Linux version later on.
How will the game be released?
There will be a free version of the game, this version will be limited by an amount of aircraft and properties and other lands to visit. Will the game contain in app purchases?
Maybe Yes and no, the whole game play is made that you won't need it. There is also no need to do similar side missions 50 times again to make money before you can buy anything. But for the people that can't wait, there will be probably options to buy in game money.
Is there a list of airplanes that are going to be in the game?
Yes, an updated list can always be found on our website aircraft section.
If you have any questions game related or about the perks contact me or ask us in the comment section and we will answer them right away.
Check out the pilot tycoon website for more details.
Risks and challenges
Saying that we don't have any risks or challenges is easy to say but we had a lot of them in the past. This game will be released with or without crowd funding support.
With the support it will make it more easier to launch it on lower end devices, and as well will give us the options to bring more lands directly in one game. Without the licenses we require, things will be a bit more hard for us to launch as the standard license doesn't allow downloadable content. As we believe in the game we will offer those in game contents after the success of the game. Those will contain more lands to visit in the game and as well more vehicles to use
