The Comic: Red: A Cyberpunk Fairytale Vol. 1 is an 80 page graphic novel created by Daniel Velez and Sean Stephens. Inspired by the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, it tells the story of Red, a member of a private security firm. She lives, works, and fights to survive in a futuristic world that is spiraling into a violent police state. When Red's grandmother falls victim to a bio-terror attack, Red will unravel a mystery involving the terror group known as the Lords of the Fourth Order, the megacorporation known as Canis, as well as the most clandestine levels of government.
Red: A Cyberpunk Fairytale is created, written, and illustrated by Daniel Velez in collaboration with his creative partner Sean Stephens. 16 pages of Sean’s artwork will be featured in the finished product.
Funding: The goal is to make Red: A Cyberpunk Fairytale available in comic book shops and comic conventions. The money raised from the Kickstarter campaign will go towards the printing and shipping of the graphic novel. It will also go towards the creation and shipping of the reward incentives to our donors.
However, it's important to remember that Kickstarter is an all or nothing system. In other words, if we don't raise the $5,000 we won't receive anything. Every little bit counts!
Project Status: The artwork for the book is complete and is currently in the lettering stages. The next step will include a final review stage which involves prepress work and proofreading for both the PDF and print versions.
Estimated Timetable: The rest of November until mid December will be fully devoted to promoting the Kickstarter campaign. The next step will involve prepress work for the digital PDF and print versions of the book. The PDF should be available in February. The printing for the physical copies of the book will be done overseas and will take 6 to 8 weeks to receive the shipment. In May, shipping of the items will begin.
