Instructions and Quick Reference
It's been another few weeks of touching up and finalizing things, here's what we've been doing:
One of our favorite parts about having different people play the game (like we got to do at PAX) is seeing the questions that come up and the situations that arise. Looking at each, thinking through how we want it to be for that situation, and determining the exact wording to make that the case without breaking anything else is a really interesting exercise. That's a lot of what we were doing to finish the character cards a few weeks back, (and what we are doing now with the missions and minor objectives) and now that they are done and their wording finalized, we have been expanding on that in the manual.
Each survivor will have a section noting their traits as written on the card, and then detailing any technicalities, interactions, or just a more verbose description. Many will also have examples to make it as clear and precise as possible. This (for the characters, missions, and minor objectives) means that the manual will be quite a few more pages than we had originally thought, but it should minimize the chance that you will need to consult the internet for errata in the middle of a game.
Keeping with our goal of ease of learning, the quick reference cards have been clarified and tidied up. After some feedback and shuffling around of things, we have added an action tracker to the side as well. We don't expect that you will use it most of the time, since 3 actions is usually pretty easy to remember, but having it there has proven helpful more than once for especially complex turns so we thought it was worth making room for. Any of you that have played the Mechanic for instance know that it can get crazy pretty quickly, and you can understand why we made it go to 7.
