Punchboards and Timeline

Posted by Dave Schroeder (Creator)

We want to thank everyone for their patience so far.  We thought we would be one of the few Kickstarters to ship on time, but it's February and you don't have a game in your hands, so obviously we misjudged.  We went in with all of the parts, but getting the parts together in a functional and attractive way was surprisingly challenging.  We've been continually improving, adding, and tweaking based on feedback.  The upside is that the game is much more polished than it would have been if you were holding it now.  The downside, obviously, is that you are not holding it now. We hope that when it's all over you will agree that we made the better choice, but until then we wanted to let you know how we got here.

Now to let you know where we are going:

The typical schedule according to our printer is 35 days for pre-production, 55 for production, and 35-50 days for initial shipping.  That means that once we send over the final piece it will be roughly 5 months until the game is in your hands.  We know that is disappointing, and we apologize.  It doesn't get the game to you quicker, but rest assured this is a lesson learned that we will avoid at all costs next time.

There are 6 big parts to send to the printer: meeples, box, box insert, punchboards, cards, and instructions.  We have already sent the meeples and box insert, and tonight we sent the punchboards.  These are by far the biggest piece, containing all of the tiles and also spare tokens for those occasions where you let a spawn pit go wild, or your Engineer stockpiles all the scrap.  Overall we will have around 350 pieces in the box, and 168 of them are on these sheets, so getting them done was a very big step.

Can't wait to have this in my hands. And I'd rather wait a bit and get a quality product than it be rushed to get it in on time. Thanks for the update and please keep us updated!

Looking forward to getting to play it sometime. Delays are always hard but a good game is worth the wait. Xia was 1 year late but I wasn't mad because he kept us in the loop on what's going on. Keep giving us timeline updates and pictures and I'll be happy. Keep up the good work.

P.S. Don't be s year late and I will be even happier :)
