Hi everyone,

LOTS of new backers yesterday and today as well. So, a quick moment to say "Thank You" to each of you for your support!

As was suggested, I'm trying to come up with some sort of demonstration that would work with what IS coded right now, and what is not, in order to show the accessibility of RogSys. In many cases, as is typical with pre-alpha and alpha stages, planned features are at best only partially implemented. This is the case with the SOI--some things already work, others have the hooks but not the functioning code, and others still are on the to-do list. Again, I'll try to put something together with what I currently have...

A few people have also asked why I don't show things like full carrier ops with radio chatter, spaceships various missions, jump travel from one system to another, etc. The fact is I don't have the assets to show these things yet. And, even if I did, in many cases the code isn't complete to show all of that--again it's pre-alpha :) In many cases, folks understand this once I explain it. But, it's also been suggested that I create the art and fake it and make a glory vid of the things I WANT to have.

This happens ALL THE TIME--glitzy presentation videos showing features that don't currently work, content that may or may not actually run well, etc. I'm sorry, I just CAN'T bring myself to do this (and I'm not saying it's been suggested with the SOI accessibility thing--what you all are asking for there is COMPLETELY different). How many times have you seen early teasers and such; and then later got the final game/sim/etc and found it was very, very different. It creates a lot of disappointment; and mistrust between the gaming community and developers. I won't add to this.

As I've stated before, if the KS fails because I was HONEST, then so be it. Is this good marketing strategy--in many cases no. Many people want to see glitz and glory. I KNOW I'm not a marketing genius, and I certainly can't afford to hire one right now to help me. But, I sleep very well at night knowing that each pledge I get was done so truthfully. And this will be the case no matter the outcome of KS.

In any case, I will try to post that short vid showing some planetary/moon motion tomorrow night; and I'll see what I can do about an accessibility vid--it's a good suggestion. As always, I REALLY appreciate all the efforts and suggestions to help make this thing work. The passion many of you have shown for RogSys, even at this early stage, staggers me...

      Hi there. I don't know a lot about this things but you REALLY need to get the word out. I am a backer and came here also by mistake because someone mentioned your Kickstarter in a forum topic about another game.

      I don't know if this is realistic, but I think your project deserves it: you need an article written with some of the big boys: Giant Bomb, Penny Arcade, Rock Paper Shotgun.

      If anybody here has any idea on how to get attention from those guys please do so!

      i havent keept in touch with what has been said and whatnot, im glad your being honist in all things that a sim like this could be. I will keep following you and hopefully pledge more on your site when and if this kickstarter ends, to help you progress. features might come and go but i think what ever you have at this time even if its a small amount is going to be sweet. anyways cross fingers 10 days left.

      This has probably been said but I think your biggest problem after getting exposure when you are not Braben or Roberts, is the timing. Most people interested in the first-person space genre recently threw a pile of cash at the big boys and are hard pressed to justify buying more of the same sort of thing...

      Maybe you could have spun a web of lies and attracted more money but I agree those are bullshit tactics that are all too common in general! I look forward to seeing more updates and will continue to support RogSys as long as you do :)
