DON'T GIVE UP: A Cynical Tale in 10 Seconds:
Don’t Give Up: A Cynical Tale is the sarcastic and dark comedic RPG starring Tris, an anti-social game developer and his quest to confront his inner demons (mental illness). You'll balance the hilarious tragedy that is your social life while facing off with the phantoms of your inner conscious and a mysterious cast of characters.
The story takes place four years after the events of Tris’s mental breakdown. Now, living in a new city and feeling deflated by his progress as an indie game developer, the inner demons seek once again to consume his mind and unleash a catastrophic plague of apathy and despair upon the city.
There's two sides to DON'T GIVE UP's gameplay, a combination of narrative and open exploration, and significant instances of combat.
You'll be able to explore the awesome sights of Threeson pretty freely, so familiarize yourself with the terrain in order to quickly track down quest NPCs and Items!
You'll Get into pizza scuffles- (and lots of other mischief)
Questionably flirt with the new girl who moved in...
You'll even ride through a rough patch or two. (or three)
The combat in DON'T GIVE UP unfolds in an original real time battle system that goes through two phases: The "Player Turn" and the "Enemy Turn"
The enemy gets to launch attacks while you do your best to dodge, counter, and parry! Your damage output is low, but you’ll be able to stack buffs, build special meter, and do light damage to the enemy!
This is your time to shine! When Tris breaks the enemy’s guard his turn begins and he gets up close and personal! Tris can execute freestyle combos at will leading into special moves that deal mass amounts of damage, buff, and hinder the enemy!
The combat continues to flow like this until the player or the enemy is defeated!
The game takes place in Threeson, a mini metropolitan city where many people move to get away from the turmoil of larger cities and mundane country life while still having access to all the major venues of entertainment. It’s got something for people of all ages, from arcades, to strip joints, to its very own mob if video games and watching people gyrate isn't your thing.

An anti-social game developer who suffers from chronic depression almost as much as he suffers from chronic sarcasm. Tris strives to find his purpose in life, and while he often hopes for success, he keeps himself grounded by ironically never expecting things to work out. He likes video games, cute girls, and… video games?
Subris is an embodiment of Tris's positive energy that exists within his mind. Almost all of the positive entities were wiped out 4 years ago, but Subris managed to turn the tables and restore peace to the mind. They enjoy exploring the ever changing stimulated regions and listening to Nethertunes even though most entities have settled in the dormant areas.

It's been a long LONG road working on this game. The last 5 years of my life have been full of ups and down trying to figure out my purpose in life- but the one thing that's been consistent is my determination to finish this project and leave some kind of legacy behind me :) Sadly, determination doesn't really work as currency in this capitalist world we're living in, so, I need just a bit more help getting over the hump and making my dream come true. Indie developers struggle SO much with visibility, so this is the perfect way to share my game with the world and help get it made.
I've worked very hard to get to this point and I hope you're just as excited about DON'T GIVE UP: A Cynical Tale as I am.

Risks and challenges
This is my first commercial game, however I've been in the indie scene for over 5 years and have a lot of support. Jarnik has also been releasing games for over 6 years now. I've been working on DON'T GIVE UP for over 2 1/2 years and it's become a priority in my life. I'm very familiar with the art style, the writing, and design so I'm extremely confident about the scope and committed to staying on track. I'm ready to work around the clock to finish the game in early 2019-nothing short of a natural disaster or an untimely death will keep me from finishing this game on schedule ;)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
