Out of Focus is a romantic-dramedy. It's about young love, finding yourself and getting a glimpse of life through a photographer's lens. The story follows Charles, a photojournalist who just hasn't made it. He needs success, and he needs it bad. His luck is about to change when he ventures away from home and meets Lia, a girl unlike any he's ever met. She's wild, gorgeous and unpredictable. And she may just be the perfect person for his story.

We are a student film crew from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Out of Focus is fortunate enough to have a 15+ crew who are all incredibly talented, motivated and committed enough to take time out of their busy school and work schedules to make this happen. Local Santa Barbara production company Chasen Productions has also agreed to help us get the project off the ground, but we still need your help.
One of the more challenging parts is already completed... Yes, we have our cast. Our wonderful cast is as follows:
Isiah Adams is Charles.
Cody Kennedy is Lia.
Dash Dobrofsky is Graham.
Steven Gridley is Mr. Larson "THE BOSS".
HOW YOU CAN HELP
As we all know, filmmaking isn't cheap. While we have an incredible crew and cast who are fully committed, we'd like to be able to feed and house them. Fortunately, we've already got our hands on all the necessary camera, sound and lighting equipment, so your donations will go directly to catering/craft services, lodging, insurance (yes, we like to be safe), props and locations.
Thank you so much for your support and contributions!
Risks and challenges
Making any sort of movie is hard. Making a 30 minute short film, across Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, while attending school, is harder.
But we've got exactly what we need -- a crew and a cast with a drive to make it happen. From pre-production to post, we have people pouring their skills and souls into Out of Focus. It's what we love to do and we are dedicated to making it happen.
We just need a little help from you.
On behalf of the crew and cast, we'd like to thank you all for reviewing our project and helping us to pursue our passion!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
