Hi all, welcome to 'Doggies'!
My name is Sipke Visser and I'm a London based, Dutch photographer. Over the last three years I’ve been visiting dog shows in London where I’ve been photographing the dogs, the people and the way in which those two deal with each other. I find it absolutely fascinating how much people love dogs. And how much dogs love to be loved - most of the time. Have a good look at some of the images below and don’t forget to focus on the details - which are often the things that make the images interesting.
At the shows I shot many many rolls of film. After processing, scanning and carefully editing them, I’ve come up with a selection of 25 photographs that make an amazing series and deserve to be put together in a book.
But this book needs your help. Making a high quality book is very expensive and for this book I will need £8000. I am so confident that the book will end up looking great and is worth the investment that I have already saved up £4000. That’s what I’m investing in ‘Doggies’. But that leaves another £4000.
That is the amount I’m trying to raise with your help. I’m asking you to believe that this book will be beautiful and will be worth buying, before it’s actually produced.
The design of ‘Doggies’ is already there as you can see in the mockup image above. It’s been designed by renowned Dutch designers Kummer & Herrman. For now they’ve come up with a virtual mockup, but the moment we reach the £4000 goal the wheels will start spinning. They will tweak the design to make it even better after which it will go to print and you will have your pre-ordered copy at the beginning of December, in time for Christmas.

Risks and challenges
Self-publishing a book is a massive task. It's hard work, but very rewarding. I've done it once before though and on this one I'm working with the same team of people. So right now I can't see anything going wrong. If there will be any unforeseen obstacles, then they will be dealt with, with the same overdose of motivation and enthusiasm that we've possessed working on this so far.
The book as shown in the image above is the design as it currently stands. Ideas are still being thrown around so it could still change, if it does it will be even better.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
