Slow made goods.
My name is Cody Jepson and I'm about to launch my first collection of ‘slow made leather goods'. It's the culmination of seven years spent developing my skills, brand and personal style and I'm really excited about getting this collection off the ground with your help.
My business started with an old man who didn't want his craft to die. He taught me to appreciate two things, leather as a medium and the satisfaction I can get from making something I’m proud enough to put my name to.
I've been developing the business slowly and have now turned to my fellow Kickstarters for the support needed to kickstart it with a full commercial collection. Your pledge will help get me one step closer to reaching my minimum goal of £5,000. It'll allow me to pay for some essential pieces of kit to speed up my production and bring this kind of quality craftsmanship to you at an affordable price.
I love what I do. I just hope you love my stuff as much as I do and will do everything you can to spread the word, get some of these lovely slow made leather goods out there and enable me to earn my living doing something awesome. Thanks for all your support guys.
My bespoke pieces have been some of my favourite designs. It's fantastic because there's just so much free reign and I can tap into my clients own creativity which is an awesome collaborative process. I recently made an art satchel for a graphic designer that I just didn't want to sell once it was finished.
I love products that are honest and aren't trying to be something they aren't. So I design my goods in a 'exposed' way. For example the leather I choose has to be more than good enough to be unlined, the stitching methods I choose, which may seem a small thing, are all visible. So it has to be done perfectly. The workings of my products are completely transparent. If I can scale something back and remake it better, more honest and with a new cut then I've achieved my goal. It's because of these factors that my goods tend to talk to people who appreciate this type of work.
If you'd like a carry unlike anyone else's have a think about a bespoke option. It's admittedly an investment in money, time and energy but you'll end up with a piece that will last your lifetime and you'll love every minute you carry it.
The bespoke set comes complete with your choice of my 3 wallets and a key lanyard in the leather of your bag.
STRETCH GOAL #1 - £8000 REACHED

STRETCH GOAL #2 - £20,000

Kickstarter Green Leather Option available on all wallets and keyrings if funding reaches £20,000.
My take on the versatile satchel. All in veg tanned leather as standard. This bag has taken me 22 prototypes until I came to the right proportion, colour combination, size, hardware and cut. Featuring clean modern lines but with its heritage still perceptible. I am personally in love with the Harley and still carry the first prototype from 4 years ago. It's an accumulation of countless large and small tweaks.
The front small pocket is designed for quick and smooth access to your smartphone. To the back of the inside main pocket is another slim line pocket for your tablet computer to keep it from flapping about in your bag getting old chewing gum on it. The Harley is as at home free wheeling on your old bicycle as it is turning up to a meeting.
The exposed push up corner gives easy access.
Ozzy: Carries 5-8 cards plus folded notes.
Fits in jacket/front/back pockets or purses with minimal profile.
Whitworth: Carries 10-16 cards, 5-8 in each wing plus notes.
Billy: Carries 11-14 cards. 5-8 in the front pocket, 3 in each of the 2 extra wings plus folded notes.
Every piece sent out is bench made.
Everything is made from veg tan or chromexcel leather which develops a rich patina from natural oils in your hands.
No elastics/felts or other man made materials are used in the making. It's all leather.
The heat branded logo doesn't fade.
Heavy duty bonded nylon is used for stitching.
Everything is reinforced hand backstitched.
Each piece of leather is cut & polished by hand.
The slimmest of the wallets. Designed for a minimalist approach to your daily carry. It slips into your front jean, jacket pocket or purse with a minimal profile showing. Easy to find in your bag it snugly fits 5-8 cards plus folded notes. The cut away corners are designed for clean and simple access to all your cards. Made for people who want to do away with all the unnecessary clutter. A small luxury show piece.
The bi-fold wallet of the collection for your everyday carry. Its asymmetrical design incorporates the Ozzys's styling but with double the capacity for those who want that extra space. Each wing fits 5-8 cards plus your notes, 10-16 cards total. To avoid the frustration of finding a birds nest of headphones in your bag, the Whitworth features a headphone organiser making everything that bit smoother. The cut away corner on each wing allows for clean, easy push up access to your cards and notes.
The tri-fold is the daddy of the wallets. If you're a believer in every eventuality, the Billy is the one for you. It does everything the Whitworth does and more with 3 card and cash compartments. It's the only wallet featuring two easy access butterfly compartments that close tight when folded up. While the third neatly holds those cards you don't use as much. As with the other wallets it's cut away corners make getting your cards in and out easy, because you don't want to be fumbling over your wallet with a massive queue behind you!
The Alfie belt is made using leather from the last oak bark tannery in England. The site has been a tannery since Roman times. In a nut shell, they really know what they're doing. It takes 18 months to finally soak up the colour from progressively stronger oak tanning pits. I personally select each hide I use from the tannery so you get the very best of the best. This is a heavy duty leather and when it's worn in you'll be so attached that there is no way you will ever want to change it. Specifications: 1.25 inch wide. Available in sizes 28" to 42". Perfect for all occasions fitting most jeans, chinos and cords.
The Tate key lanyard features a secure nickel plated snap hook. Held tight with screw studs. Perfect for snapping on to your belt loop for security when you're on the go.
Everything is British made & designed.

As an added bonus, get a special rate as a thankyou for your kickstarter backing.
Many man made materials try to be as good as natural substances like leather. Put simply though, they never will be because unlike other materials, leather looks better with age. While elastics, felts and other materials look good initially, they lose their attraction rapidly. Leather if anything becomes more of an integral part of your daily carry over the years, part of your personal style signature. It's easy to let go of an old saggy elastic wallet but try getting rid of a leather wallet you've had for years and it's not so easy.
Leather carries the story of our lives, a story that becomes more interesting with each scratch and mark.
Risks and challenges
I am solely responsible for production and this keeps my product quality top notch. It also means that if my project is well backed I will be working very hard for the next few months.
To ensure things run smoothly I have very carefully planned my Kickstarter rewards and capped them at a level that allows me to fulfil all my obligations personally. My delivery dates are also at the most conservative end of the spectrum to allow for any hiccups along the way.
Not only that but l've lined up a great bunch of friends and family to help out with packing and posting so I can get on with crafting your goods.
