Haptica™ is a Braille watch that allows blind people to check the time quickly and accurately without an audible disruption.
Haptica™ presents a logical alternative for the blind and replaces the archaic products currently available.
Haptica provides precision and discretion to the user and seeks to improve the quality of life for blind people. Blind people represent a market that is oftentimes over looked and underserved when it comes to good design.
We want to change that, but we need your help.
Like most products for people with disabilities, it’s somewhat of a niche market. Raising funds or finding a big company to back these kinds of products is difficult.
By harnessing the power of crowd sourcing, great ideas can become great products and we won’t have to compromise the creative process. We’ll be able to create a product that will be both functional and beautiful.
Unfortunately, if our goal isn’t met before the deadline, no money changes hands and there will be no Haptica watch. We don't like that scenario and we hope you don't either!
It's the minimum amount needed to fund the engineering and get the ball rolling. The money raised will help to finalize the technology exploration for the watch's mechanical and electronic engineering. It will also help fund packaging, manufacturing and put Haptica on track to be produced.
EXCEEDING THE GOAL
While $150,000 is the Kickstarter goal we've set, more funding means less speed bumps down the road. The more funds we can raise the more streamlined the entire process will be.
As soon as this project is funded we'll jump right in to getting the technology exploration finalized which we anticipate will take about 4-6 months. Beyond that, we'll be wrapping up Haptica's form factor, preparing packaging, getting the tooling set up and arranging distribution for the first production run. We'll be doing everything possible to get these produced and keeping Haptica's backers updated along the way.
In the meantime, t-shirts and wristbands will be shipped shortly after the project closes.
