And this is it!

And so it happens, just 36 hours into our Kickstarter campaign we have reached our goal!

That's really, absolutely, mind-blowingly thrilling. We cannot stress strongly enough how grateful we are to all of you. This resounding confirmation of what we've been working on for almost two years just makes everything worthwhile. We are happy -- and privileged -- to be working on this project and we want to make the best possible game we can, for you.

Now, with our goal reached, it's time for stretch goals and we shall announce the first one tomorrow. I would also like to make one thing clear: we have come to an understanding with our investor that every penny we make above the Kickstarter goal will stay with us and will go toward making Kingdom Come: Deliverance better.

Well done to all the team. I've never backed on Ks beforebut as soon as I saw this I knew I was backing this game. Now I look forward to December 2015. I have the idea that it's a game that will rally wow me. I hope you put third person in to your sword combat that will make it great. All the best to you Gents.

    2. MartinCZE on

First of all, big congratulations to you Dan and your Team !
This is my first pledge ever and I am glad it is Czech game. Same as Jakub below I like your courage to do things differently. Games need it as they are being too simplified nowadays.
So I wish you all best with creating game. If this will succeed worldwide I am sure that bigger publishers recognize what golden czech hands are capable of ;) Me myself will gladly participate in shaping your game.
But one last thing and I can't stress it enough. I beg you:

Make one of your stretch goals PROFESSIONAL CZECH DUBBING!!!

I just remember Mafia and its wonderful czech dubbing which helped atmosphere alot. So please do CZECH DUBBING for the game. And thank you for making our dreams come true :)

    3. David W on

@Patrick: Agreed. There's also sword and buckler from the I.33 manuscript which can be viewed as dual-wielding given the active shield work on the off-hand, but yeah, leave "classic" dual-wielding to WOW and other generic fantasy RPGs where they belong.

@Michelle: I think it's pretty clear you're not going to be a One Man Army in this game (even moreso than in Mount and Blade, where you can still get away with it due to the poor AI). The way the character is being set up to "change the world" looks to be mainly focusing on the political side, not by being a Conan expy single-handedly conquering whole nations.

      Patrick on

Only time dual wielding should even be an option is with a sword and dagger. It's a highly impractical form of combat, popularized pretty much only by Legolas from the Lord of the Rings movies. Sure, it looks cool, if combat really worked like that, but it doesn't!

I think dual wielding should be constrained to it's roots in high fantasy, where it makes the most sense. A game priding itself on a realistic combat simulation probably has no real place for it, imo.

    5. Michelle A. Truax on

@ 'Yngvald' aka HannesFury :Yes, Morrowind and Oblivion before it were very much so class-less, even more than Skyrim. Morrowind had a greater number of skills that you could level, and then Oblivion came out, and in theory you could max them all, if you planned it right. But when Oblivion came out, they took a few skills, to make room in the game for the better graphics and other gameplay elements. Then with Skyrim they took even more skills out for things like the Dragon Shouts, dragons in game and events, and the dual wielding weapons and spells.
They're all good games, and from what I've seen, minus the spells, KC:D is going to be great in it's own right. I do hope, and think that, they won't make it "too" realistic. I know dual wielding isn't written in history books, but I guarantee the player is going to change the world in ways that an individual never did in real life. And with all the hardships of that time, you really don't want it "that" realistic.

    6. cthuun on

      yeah! great project.
hope to see the whole game in 2015/2016 on PS4.

    7. 'Yngvald' aka HannesFury on

especially in comparison to Skyrim, was Morrowind really open class system?

    8. Missing avatar

      Ramon Jongsma on

Yes! Open class system like in Morrowind would be completely awesome. You just pick a skill set when you create your character, but you can train and learn any skill you like.

    9. David W on

@ Santtu As I'd noted, I don't think that the classes should be restricted, but there's nothing to say that it should be as easy.

This industry needs more studios like this. You remind me to CDProjekt, you do what you think is best for the consumer and yourselves, you let the creativity fly and don't care about the big publishers and marketing companies. I respect that, and I think you deserve an enormous success with this totally amazing game.

    14. SYKE on

That was quick... hope in the end it plays more like Mount and Blade than Skyrim. Good luck.

I love your vision, courage to do things differently and what you've presented so far. So congratulations to reaching your goal, I think it's well deserved based on what you've shown us so far and I hope you'll manage to continue at this rate. I also wish you to "not loose your head" and go crazy with stretched goals since money still are and most likely will be flowing further. We know what gigantic vision and never being satisfied with (almost) end product can turn into, *caught caught* Duke Nukem Forever *caught*. I also wish for slightly bigger map but there has been some compact RPG games which proved to be fantastic in it's own way and which I preferred in the end over huge games filled with tons of stuff like TES series. So once again congratulations and now off you go, back to work! We are hungry gamers :)

I suspect this is only the start and you will pass though many goals! ;)

Congratulations! I have been keeping an eye on this ever since the laptop-run tech demo made the news. As Mafia, Hidden & Dangerous, and OFP have been some of my favorite games of all time, I knew this will be something special, and reading about the trials and tribulations of not finding a publisher made me afraid it wouldn't happen. This game flies with this American, regardless of what any marketing drone says.

This is excellent news! I wish you guys the best of luck for the remainder of the development process. Take as long as you need to make this game play as smoothly and interestingly as you all dreamed!

I'm excited for this project because it seems you guys understand that not all gamers want their hand held(ie. The omniscient compass markers in Skyrim. Hate those!) Some of us really enjoy having to play smart and plan ahead. It's rewarding!

      Have an excellent spring!

      @Comrade Suhov
I certainly hope you're not referring to the same-sex marriages in Massive Chalice when you talk about "ruined".

Women leading men in battle is not historically inaccurate, so class restrictions wouldn't be really necessary, and the game's main character is apparently something of a special person, and epic destiny doesn't mind what gender you are.

Yeah I saw the video and I threw my money on you guys immediately afterwards. There is a problem with AAA games of the times, they are generic dumbed down experiences. Dont get me wrong there are great games but it feels like they all blend together with how their set up with high and lows for the player, kinda like a formula almost all modern films use.
I like your cause and I think the game looks fantastic already with what has been talked about in the kickstarter video.
Good luck guys, you deserve it!

@Kit Fowley: As I understand the FAQs, the PS4 and XboxOne-Version will come without a strech goal: In our world, we can offer you PC version in all tiers. From the “Baron” tier above, you will be able to choose our game on any platform you wish from those mentioned above (i.e. Windows PC / Mac / Linux / Xbox One / PS4), with the proviso that on consoles the game must be approved by the platform holders first. In case we are not able to finish or release the game on the platform you chose for any reason, you will be able to choose again (from available platforms) or demand your money back.

    37. brokedownsystem on

lol...if that's not an emphatic message that tons of people want this game, I don't know what is. Congratulations!!! I hope everything works out smoothly in development. Good luck!

Dobrá práce. Držím place...klidně si dejte načas, nebuďte chamtiví a hlavně splňte, co jste slíbili. Jsem zvědavej na Stretch goals :)

    39. David W on

I think a combination of both could work. Make it harder for the female warrior to be taken seriously by the nobles (and I'd also throw in the outright hostility she'd likely encounter as well), while a female bard might have a somewhat easier path.

      Casper Rouwendal on

Awesome news! I really hope this will mean the game will come out the way you guys have always wanted it to be!

    41. John Bernhard Horn on

      katrinya on

Alternatively, female characters could be restricted to the bard and assassin classes. Maybe no one would follow a woman into battle (though Jean d'Arc suggests otherwise), but I see no reason why a woman can't sneak around and stab people in the back. A woman might even have some advantages as a bard, flirting with lords to get her way.

    43. Missing avatar

      katrinya on

Mount and Blade did a good job of providing a realistic option for playing a woman. You had to work twice as hard to prove yourself to the other lords, and the king didn't grant you captured territories the way he did with his other vassals. In other words, it was much harder to get started, but it made becoming a successful female warlord that much more rewarding.

I'd like to see something similar implemented here, if possible.

    44. Shiru XIII on

Congratulations !!!!! Can't wait to see the next updates !

I've a question for your guys (I don't know if you've already answer it) :

      Will there be katanas ??
Will the game features legendary weapons ??

Thanks in advance for the answer and keep up the good work !

      Kevin Genson on

Glad to see you're getting the support you deserve. Please be careful with the stretch goals; I would much rather see a commitment towards improved game play and content than feature and scope creep.

    46. David W on

Having a female playable character would be problematic given the setting. Remember, in most of 15th Century Europe a woman's role was primarily as a baby incubator and keeping up the home. A woman trying to be a warrior would encounter a LOT of hostility (especially if she's a commoner).

I'm not saying it SHOULDN'T be an option, but if they're trying to create a realistic/historical depiction of the period, keep in mind that playing as a woman ought to present a higher difficulty level in this setting. It's not a shiny happy politically correct world like in TES and WOW.

I'd really hate to see dual wielding brought into this, as it's WAY too generic fantasy. There's very little of it in the actual manuscripts (some sword and dagger, but that was primarily when you get into the renaissance. The closest you honestly get is the I.33 manuscript on sword and buckler), because it's simply not practical.

Oh, and to have this setup as an MMO, ESPECIALLY one where it's actually a ROLE playing game (and I mean role as in CHARACTER, not role as in DPS/Tank/Healer) could be awesome, but I'll be perfectly happy with a straight SP game, maybe with a MP deathmatch.

    47. Michelle A. Truax on

Modding tools, or at least the ability for the fans to make mods, Female player classes, romantic interactions and dual wielding! All of these HAVE to be in the game! please. :P

    48. JCap on

@David W: Yes modding tools would be perfect for this game too.
