Dear Backers,

It is now one week since our game was released and we have good news for you. Out of the 10,000 packages we are sending out, only a fraction has so far not been delivered. The majority was sent prior to the February 13th release or the day after at the latest. We’re glad we were able to deliver the game to you on time, which was our main priority.

Nevertheless, despite our efforts a number of issues has arisen.

You didn’t get the game

There are two possible reasons for that: either you haven’t provided us with the information we need to send it, or the information was incomplete and the delivery service was not able to deliver.

You’ll know you are in the first category if you log in to your profile on www.kingdomcomerpg.com and you do not find there the waybill for tracking the consignment.

Similarly, you can find out if you belong to the second category by logging in and checking the waybill on the website of the distribution company, which in this case will show the error preventing delivery (incomplete address, telephone number etc.).

We are doing our best to resolve both cases, and if you’ve supplied us at least with an e-mail address, we will try to contact you. However, you can speed up the whole process considerably by filling in all the required data in your online profile.

We will most likely deliver the next consignment of games and rewards in batches rather than individually – one batch around the end of February and one in late March.

Please take note that after the end of March, it will not be possible to send out further physical copies and anyone who has not provided complete delivery data will be sent only the digital version of the Collectors’ Edition.

The game was delivered to you damaged

We treat complaints very seriously and deal with them accordingly. Some of our backers got damaged boxes: in this case it would be best not to accept the package from the courier and to write up a complaint report with the delivery service. Nevertheless, if you did accept the package in a damaged condition without making such a complaint, please mail to us at support@kingdomcomerpg.com and we will do what we can to help.

Unfortunately, we have also received some photos showing boxes damaged inside, which is probably due to rough handling in transit, for which we sincerely apologise. If you have experienced this, the procedure is the same: write to our support and as compensation we will send you collectors’ digital bonuses.

Contents of the edition

As development drew to a close, our most urgent priority was to get the game finished, so for a small software firm manned mainly by programmers and graphic artists, sending out tens of thousands of packages in dozens of different variations (the combinations of backer rewards really ran to dozens) was quite a challenge and we apologise that there were some hiccups along the way. We’d like to explain to you here what happened and what we are doing about it:

  • ‘Making of’ video and Combat Academy: We haven’t forgotten these, we just wanted to ensure that the last phases of development and the game’s release were included. We’re working on that now and will send them in digital form as soon as possible.
  • Printed manual: in contrast to our original aim, the game has a truly massive tutorial and Codex and a printed manual seemed superfluous in this day and age, so we decided to drop it.
  • Signed poster: this proved impossible logistically. Dan simply didn’t have time a few days before the game launch to sign 2,500 posters, which at that time were located at the other side of the country.
  • Metal box: unfortunately, we discovered that the manufacture of metal boxes was much more demanding in terms of both time and logistics than we imagined during the Kickstarter campaign, so we therefore decided on a different package. Even so, we trust that its final appearance is great.

We apologise to you for these shortcomings. Any failure to deliver rewards to you, who made it possible for us to proceed with the development of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, distresses us more than you can imagine. We are truly proud of all the elements in the Collectors’ Edition and we trust that you will appreciate them. The tin figure is hand-finished and the shield hand-painted in a tiny Czech craft workshop (not a mass product from some cheap Asian supplier), anyone who got a silver coin really has 10g of real silver, the brass coin is also hand-crafted and those who have the engraving in their edition have an authentic original work of art created especially for this occasion.

.

Thanks

Despite the regrettable setbacks outlined above, we hope we have not let you down after the confidence you placed in us. After long years of development, the game is finished and we are proud of it. Now we are doing everything we can to make Kingdom Come: Deliverance even better!

Thank you kindly for your support

Now that the game is finally out and pretty successful, why not deliver on some of the promised features like macOS / Linux support and send out signed posters to backers? I'd really appreciate that! My brother, who also backed the campaign, loves the game so far. I'll be waiting a year or so until it's properly patched and better optimized.

I backed for Linux version too:

      From FAQ:

      > From the “Baron” tier above, you will be able to choose our game on any platform you wish from those mentioned above (i.e. Windows PC / Mac / Linux / Xbox One / PS4), with the proviso that on consoles the game must be approved by the platform holders first. In case we are not able to finish or release the game on the platform you chose for any reason, you will be able to choose again (from available platforms) or demand your money back.

Where is refund? You didn't provide the Linux version. I want a refund. Scammers.

      https://www.gog.com/game/kingdom_come_deliverance

This is the last time I supported Warhorse Studios. No GOG codes and no REFUND. Ignoring PM. I'm starting to hate the Kickstarter more and more with each similar case.

    22. darkseraph on

Made this comment in Steam also but not sure it would be seen...

2 in-game quality of life suggestions:
      1) Equipment compare button/view to more easily see the differnce between an item in inventory and currently equipped item. Since some stats on gear more are difficult to see (such as Charisma), it's annoying to try to maximize Charisma gear

      2) ability to create and save "equipment sets" like a wardrobe and switch between them easily. players would be encouraged to create cool and interesting looking sets getting more use out of outgrown equipment.

    23. Jalister on

I've seen it stated that not providing GOG keys is a publisher issue. According to the game pages on Steam and GOG Warhorse is the publisher. So it's not an issue that they can't do it, they won't do it.

I would be willing to overlook the Linux version if we could get a GOG key.

      Hi! I backed a DRM-Free version. Can I have a GOG code?

    27. Ingo Günther on

      @Helena
You can backup game installations in Steam by right clicking on the game entry in your library and then on "backup game files" (or similar). Only disadvantage to a installer is that this backup is almost as large as the original installation, there is no real compression.

    28. Luca R on

thanks for everything Warhorse, I was very satisfied with my king edition.
The only remorse, is that I would have liked the poster signed by Dan! however the game is fantastic ...

    29. Helena on

@ Ingo: I realise this, but unfortunately the download takes a LONG time on my connection (at least 8 hours or so). The DVDs help a bit, but not much. It's especially annoying considering that I backed the physical game precisely to avoid this exact problem - and as I mentioned before, having to download practically the entire game makes the disks pretty much worthless to me.

    30. Ingo Günther on

      @Helena
"(not to mention that I'll have to go through the whole rigmarole again any time I want to re-install the game)"
You did activate your key for your Steam library and from there you can directly download the most recent version. You won't need the DVD's for that and in fact they wouldn't even have been necessary to use for the first installation.

    31. Helena on

I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing, to be honest. I was annoyed about the missing physical items, but when my package arrived I was impressed with the things I did receive - the box itself is beautiful, the figure and coin are very nice, and I love the artwork on the game sleeve. I was also one of the lucky ones regarding the T-Shirt size - I'm an M so I can still wear it, even if it's a bit baggy on me.

However, all that goodwill pretty much vanished when I put in the discs to install the game, it installed about 3GB of data... and then downloaded the rest from Steam. I assume this is something to do with the patches, but either way it makes the physical copy - which is the main thing I backed for - almost completely useless to me (not to mention that I'll have to go through the whole rigmarole again any time I want to re-install the game). At least if I had the GOG version, I could download the standalone installer and store it somewhere.

The game itself is good fun so far, and I'm really impressed with the amount of content and historical detail. However, I've only played a few hours and have already run into one near-game-breaking bug, huge framerate swings, and a complete crash where the game simply hung on a black screen. So I've stopped playing for the moment until a few more patches come out.

I do appreciate the huge amount of work you guys put into this. You're certainly not the first Kickstarter to over-promise on physical rewards, and I'm quite prepared to give some leeway to a small startup company making their first game (which I'm sure will be great once the bugs and performance issues are fixed). I'm really glad to see that KC:D has been such a success in terms of sales, and I hope you've made enough money to fund the next episode. However, with all that, right now I have to say (with regret) that I probably wouldn't back again.

If you want a simple suggestion for how to compensate higher-tier backers for the missing physical rewards, without faffing around with refunds: Offer them an additional digital key for the platform of their choice (Steam, GOG etc.) I believe you when you say you're distressed about not being able to deliver everything you promised, but actions speak much louder than words here. It would cost very little and you'd win back a lot of goodwill that way.

    32. Craig Smith on

I got my stuff fine and it's all very cool but I wish whoever put the map in had rolled it instead of folding it because the creases are so deep it ruins the art and I don't handle it because the creases are starting to tear.

    33. Jalister on

For those asking for a physical manual, I highly doubt you will get one. Warhorse can't even be bothered with something as simple as asking GOG for some keys to email to their backers.

Maybe they are hoping that some backers will double dip and buy their own GOG version, I won't be one of them. Advice to future developers, if you don't intend to provide backers with a DRM free version, don't release it DRM free for at least 3 months after the Steam release. You will avoid pissing off your backers.

It sucks that those people that didn't back KC:D from the beginning have the option to get the superior product. This situation has completely eaten away any desire I have to play this right now.

One more thing, how about that version that can run on Linux or SteamBox?

    34. Missing avatar

      Andreas Trageser on

I also had preferred a GOG over a Steam key. But I can live with it.
I do like your design ideas and hope you not crack under the pressure of all the whining and convert all your ideas to common formula crap. Tweak them were necessary but don't sacrifice them to the forever yesterday crowd. I would prefer to see 'common patch' solutions for those people as optional feature but not on the cost to remove the original own ideas.
If that is not possible (design, budget or whatever) let the mod community take care of the whiners demands.
But please don't sacrifice your original ideas as the industry is already enough encrusted in formulated ideas.

    35. Punkalyptic on

I echo previous comments; the whole point of supporting a campaign @ physical backer tiers is exactly that; physical items.

I see you did not address perhaps the most serious matter of all; the DRM-free situation. I'm sitting here with a few discs that are useless to me, unless I'm forced to use Steam.

Don't let us be misunderstood, we appreciate the update, but it does not really amend any shortcomings, does it?

    36. MsDemeaner on

Again the reason some of is backed at this level was because it has a manual. They are rare these days. That was the whole fucking point!!!!

    37. MsDemeaner on

The issue with the manual was NOT about having the instructions, but having a PHYSICAL BOOK something that collectors are interested in.

So supply the fucking item we fucking paid for!
Also you need to supply shirts in the size the customer paid for.

Take some fucking ownership and complete ALL of your obligation your cunts!!

    38. Keithustus on

So no metal box, but there were some metal boxes sold? Then it looks like you sent THE ONES PRODUCED to the wrong place. KS backers who sometimes payed $100+ take priority.

I just checked my pledge page, but I can't find a download link for the Linux version and I am reading very disappointing comments in your forum regarding Linux support.

I opted for the Linux version and Linux support was the single requirement for my support. I do not have Windows, nor any other platform than Linux. Hence, the game is totally useless to me if there is no support.

Will there be Linux support very soon (by this summer)? If not, I better sell it for what it's worth to me: peanuts. Then I can use that money to buy a game with Linux support.

    40. Benjamin Penney on

The game delivered to me was damaged... it came with a Steam key and NOT A GOG KEY!!

    41. Missing avatar

      Michele on

I believe you let down your backers because you neglected the most important thing during a kickstarter: the communication. You failed to updates backers on every changes in the rewards until few days before release, things you could have mentioned during the previous updates. That's really grave as it does require you a couple of minutes to do so.

About the missing or changed rewards, it is customary (it's mandatory in fact) on ks to provide something to compensate for what is missing (printed manual, signed poster, metalbox). You cannot simply omit content.

Last thing is about the drm-free alternative. You didn't promise it but you did promise you were looking into it. In the end you released the game drm-free so backers are right in expecting one themself as there is no issue preventing it. It's not that you did not make a drm-free version, you did so you can provide it. You never mentioned that the backers would be required to link their steam account and should not expect them to do so. You put in place a system from the beginning to only deliver the steam keys that you didn't want to change, a sign that you never wanted to provide a drm-free version to the backers, so the promise was not true.
You can still provide gog keys to those backers, you only have to request GOG those keys and send them to all the mail address of the backers.
