We proudly present you the Tech Alpha version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance! This is a very important milestone for us as it gives us the first chance to show you what’s already been created and what we are aiming for. At the same time also providing us with the first chance to get direct feedback from you!

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Tech Alpha Day
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Tech Alpha Day

Your feedback is very important to us in the following steps of development. Seeing videos and screenshots is nice, but touching and feeling the interactive piece with all your senses is way better. Therefore backers with the Baron Tier and higher will get the chance to meet Henry and experience his life in 1403.

Usually Alpha version means that you get a finished game with plenty of bugs, rough edges and missing parts. We would like to approach the Alpha early access phenomenon a bit differently. So how our Alpha look like? Our Alpha version is more likely a Technical Alpha.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Tech Alpha Night
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Tech Alpha Night

What does that mean? The Tech Alpha version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a collection of several technical aspects and game mechanisms in a more or less advanced state of development. The playable content will grow in stages (updated versions approximately every two or three months), adding new aspects, settings or game mechanics to the Alpha. You’ll get the chance to become acquainted with Kingdom Come: Deliverance step by step and can delve into more and more of our world as the amount of the content grow. Interested?

All eligible backers get their unique code on their profile at www.KingdomComeRPG.com. Please visit our site and register there, so you can manage your credentials like address, preferred platform or T-shirt size.

The Alpha is accessible for Windows PCs only and via Steam service. Your unique code will open the game visible and downloadable. After you install it, your initial journey can begin.

Unfortunately this early in development a wide variety of technical problems while downloading, installing, and launching the game are probable. Therefore if you run into any issues we will be happy to help. If you would like to share your opinion, please visit our forums or contact us and we’ll do whatever we can to help you.

Please consider that the game is far from finished and the bugs are there. We appreciate your feedback from the gaming experience!

@USM-Valor the platforms were listed did not call out the alpha as being released for Windows systems only.

To quote the BARON pledge level on the side of the page here:

"With the Baron (digital) reward tier you are going to receive: Access to the Alpha version of the game + Digital copy of Act I + Download of soundtrack in MP3 + Download of the "Making of" video + Digital copy of the game manual + Access to our forums + Baron forum badge"

Note the decided lack of stating it's going to be a Windows only Alpha which makes folks like me annoyed when the FAQ doesn't say non-Windows platforms are going to be released at a later date. To be honest, had the FAQ said that I wouldn't have backed.

I'm tired of companies treating non-Windows platforms as second or third rate citizens. Yes, I'm aware that the "market share" doesn't compare, but at least when it comes to Linux you can't get a valid "market share" when there are so few companies that will actually _sell_ machines with the operating system, we always get lumped into the Windows sale numbers which inflates those numbers disproportiantely.

Is the alpha key separate from the full game? Anybody?

      @USM-Valor

I realize that I use a platform that has only recently been discovered by the gaming industry and has a relatively small market share. Since Linux/Mac OS/Windows versions are promised from launch day I wonder when I should be expecting a Linux build? They have to be tested too.

Game does not work after downloading. When I hit enter after the start screen, game crashes . Win 8.1/64, GeForce GTX 680, i7 4770K, 16GB RAM.

Looking forward to the Mac OS-X alpha; hope its available soon.

    7. USM-Valor on

B+P, you know you're in the vast...vast minority of the install base when you limit yourself to such a great degree. To expect developers to cater this install base at such an early stage is defrauding the rest of us due to an inordinate amount of resource time/effort for such a small return.

      Use some common sense.

how do you install alpha? I have steam, acces code and...?

      @USM-Valor

Yes. When I provide an equal pledge, I expect an equal treatment when it comes to promises. There was no information that the Alpha would be Windows only. If your comment came from a developer I would feel defrauded right now.

You would too if I where to promise you a playable Alpha and only provided a Linux build. Try walking in other peoples shoes.

    10. USM-Valor on

People were honestly expecting Alphas in Mac and Linux? Seriously?

Looks pretty impressive already. Love the small details!

    14. Josep M. Pons on

Ok, I had been able to check a little, the alpha. I'm sure you're aware of your current issues, but a small list.

      - You have issues managing changes in the graphic configuraiton
      - Graphics: it is the most advanced, by now, of all the points, the scenarios are incredible, with a lot of detail, except the... trees. From near they look plain, bad designed.
      - Movement interactions are a problem, right now, they lack flexibility
      - NPCs move weirds. A lot of NPCs performing actions in the wrong place and a girl was flying!
      - Graphical interface: it is pure shit, by now.
      - Controls: the same. Bad. Clearly bad
      - And some more things

I would be afraid if I didnt knew the difference between alpha and beta, but I'm surprised, anyway, from the previous fotage I was sure that the game was more advanced than it is, in the development

Anyway, good work. But you have a lot to do! yet :)

Oh... well... I explicitly selected a Kickstarter tier that gave me Alpha access... only to no discover that Alpha is only Windows? No Linux release? Great... I don't own a Windows license, and I'm not about to go out and buy one either. I feel a bit... disappointed.

    18. Koen Bryon on

For those that can't log in to check for their code, try using a different browser. Chrome worked for me.

    19. Helena on

I'd like to try out the alpha version, but I'm wary of using my Steam key because when I've done that with other Kickstarters, they've assumed I want the final game delivered through Steam as well (even if I specifically told them otherwise). I really don't want to have my digital copy tied to Steam if there are any other options, e.g. GOG.

Anyway, I've watched videos of the alpha on Youtube and it's looking pretty good. I'm really glad they got rid of the pretentious faux-Shakespearean dialogue seen in the Kickstarter video.

As a Linux user, I would also like to know if the Alpha code is a separate key from the full game so I can give it to my brother to take a look.

It is not visible on Steam, you have to have the code from pledge.kingdomcomerpg.com

I would like to echo B+P-Snegge here. I'm at the VISCOUNT level and I don't have Windows or Mac systems. Why are we being left out in the cold for something that was promised?

For anyone who doesn't know how to get it on Steam, open Steam & click on the "games" tab at the top. Then click "activate a product on Steam", then enter your code.

Why cant I find the game on Steam...I've been searching on steam store and there is nothing. Everybody is saying they are downloading. I feel like an idiot. Can someone please help!!

    29. Space Monkey on

I've checked the alpha and loved it! It's so beautiful, I love everything about the design and how real it feels. It really pays to use real world topography, and all the research about the life in the 15th century also brings a level of details which makes you feel like you're there! You guys really have a sense for the design of game worlds and noone else comes close to that. I knew this was a project to support and I'm not regretting it. I'm really excited at the prospect of seeing this game grow! Keep up the good work!

I cannot log into my Forum account (Unknown Error) and I had to change my email address here on Kickstarter as that email address no longer exists. As I created by forum account over on Warhorse using a newer email I suspect there might be a problem linking the two accounts.

Who do I need to contact at Warhorse in order to resolve this issue?

Dan & Co., checked out the alpha just now. Suffice to say, I'm impressed.

Atmosphere is great, day & night! I especially liked the natural looking terrain with height differences and dense vegetation and NPC behaviour (people arriving and sitting in table, getting food and eating, barmaid fetching empty bowl and pouring more drinks). Obviously at this time scripts bugged occasionally, people sitting in air and mugs sometimes missing etc.

Can hardly wait later builds with more features added. Any guesses when we can see horses or try riding?

      Vynikající !

Just went and activated the game at Steam.

Is there any particular reason why Baron tier backers, that don't use Windows, like me, are left out of the playable Alpha? I could understand a technical reason. But other than that: why also did back, you know?

    46. Pavel Stangel on

My profile says "Paid Tiers" and it is empty.
I just changed my profile email to same email as on my kickstarter, but it is still empty.
Work starts in an hour, so I guess I will have to try it when I get home.

    47. Chris-Andre Fotland on

"Show code" Disappears when i click it, and no code appears. Reloading brings back the button but with the same result. Same result in Chrome and IE.
