Pledge Manager, status, plans, and all updates.

Hello Agents! Thank you for being patient since the last update, and you waited for all the fresh news and updates we have for you.

Today I would like to focus on the big important thing we need to plan. We need to reschedule a delivery plan :( Unfortunately, we have met several different issues, which we were trying to manage since last time. But now we are on the right path!

First of all: Production. After the last update, Filip visited our local partner who changed a production concept in our heads. Unfortunately two formats of the box and additional content changed his scope a little bit, and because of that, we have searched some other options. We have decided to move production to China. We have chosen the company which will help us to reach planned production prices and thanks for merging this production with our other productions, we have managed to protect the assumed quality without any compromises.

If you are our returning Backers, you already know that we are putting a lot of engagement to that element and we want you to be satisfied with the final product.

But unfortunately, that will cause downtime. So what is the new schedule?

  • First of all, we will start the production on 1st March 2019. This should take about 6 weeks.
  • After that, we will need about 2 months for delivery to the US and Europe (to our logistics centers and fulfillment companies).
  • Next stage is packing and direct shipping to your hands.

Setting all dates on a very pessimistic scope, we can ensure you that project will be closed, and delivered in October 2019. Of course, we will do our best to decrease this dates as possible, but let's stick the pessimistic dates, to be super sure that we won't need to do any more changes for the final delivery.

The current status of our work also causes the downtime. Right now we are on 80% of our works. The product we want to deliver and the concept of the story behind that take a little bit more time than we planned. But let’s give the voice to the designers:

Matt Dembek: “Hey there! So if you're looking for the % progress of the game and every aspect of it, then it would be something like Stages: 80% Obstacle cards: 80% The story: round 45% And the SG: we can't touch them until we're done with the main game.

The most important thing here is that we want to finish the game up to the end of the year, and we will be updating you regularly on that."

In the same time, we are doing some organizational changes, which also takes some of our attention. But we can also ensure you that these processes are good, and will help us to be more effective, stable and will give you a more important comfort. We want to write more about that, but we will do that on 21st or 22nd of November in a separated update. It will be a big thing, so we want to describe it adequately.

Work is measured on the effects, and we are not only changing the delivery date, but we are also preparing the new content for you all. First of all, the game mat. Today we want to share the illustration and the proposal of the layout. Please share with us your opinion; we are opened for a discussion, and we are very curious about your thoughts on this element.

First visions ;)

Pledge Manager: It's almost ready. It will be available under this link: As we promised, we are using BackerKit, which is a known tool with good support, and a large number of Backers already see that solution. We have prepared not only our Pledges from the project, but also you will be able to find there, some products from our last campaigns, our other games, and premieres with game mats for Pocket Mars, INBETWEEN, and of course Blight Chronicles.

Game mat for Pocket Mars:

Game mat for INBETWEEN

However, we still have in our heads that this is our first such delay in Kickstarter projects. So we have decided to prepare some special discounts, available only for you guys. We will cut the prices in Pledge Manager badly for most of the products, and we will make sure that you will be the first with some extras, like game mats. Also, as an "I'm a sorry gift," we want to share with you more content for Page Quest Season 1 (not only the first episode, you have already received). We will send you more guys, via Kickstarter mailing system before 6th December. In the meantime, please find some of the screens, which shows work in progress status.

Now the only thing we need to do with Pledge Manager is to set the shipping costs and test the configuration, so 2-3 days and you will be able to manage your pledge correctly. We will have some more surprises for you (about the products available in Pledge Manager), but we can not tell more before official launch (what I can say, they will be two, big and top-rated games).

So guys, please wait for the next update 2-3 days, and you will get the access to pledge manager, and you will also get some top secret information. Thank you for being with us, and if you have any, even the smallest question, about the delay we have described, feel free to ask, we are here to answer all questions, and make that project transparent.

Ok, guys, we are ready! Pledge Manager is prepared. We will release the smoke test in the morning - right now we have 00:02 in Poland. Smoke test means that 5% of Backers will receive the survey about 8:00 CET, and after checking that everything goes correctly, we will release all the surveys in about 6 hours since the smoke test. We will also release the update with relevant information about fulfilling the BackerKit.
Se you in the morning, Agents!

      @Brimstoner - thank you :)
But this will be the illustration for the playmat - we are not planning to change the style for the whole game.
      Best regards,

    3. Brimstoner on

I really like the art style of the playmat. But it's very different from the one we've seen on the cards. I would love to see the cards done in the same style as the playmat...

    4. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@JKP - we can ensure you that the game will be finished. We will approve that by sharing all the details from the production more often and in the regular timeline.
We know that we need to prove that with our work and not another words, and we are on the path to do that.
Thank you for your comment, and hope that in the final, you will be happy from the quality of the product.

    5. JKP

Wow. I'm a late comer to this news but gotta say I'm not happy about it. I have lots more to say but will let cooler head prevail. I will say that this is my 4th campaign / 6th experience with B&D and each one has dropped my confidence a little bit more.
"Hey, we are going to be a year late but to make it up to you we'll let you buy more of our stuff!! Lucky you!" Haha.
After being part of a handful of crashed KSers recently I can't help but get the feeling that this is just step 1 into oblivion and I am skeptical this will even finish.

@Rousseau - The business update was planned on 19th November, and this is the important information. But on the last call (2 days before) the dev team shared the news, that they still need 2-3 more days. We are also holding the BackerKit for the day after that announcement because we want to add more add-ons (correlated). All will be reviled this week.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Of course, we will be back with more details.

And about PM. On october 9th, you answered : "BackerKit will be live on 19th November. This is a 100% sure date. Also on this date, we will update you with all very important information - we want to do ”all in one” update. It will also show on what are we working."
How can we trust you in the future with such "fake news" (as written by a backer) ?
Thanks for being more transparent and honest in the future and don't tell things you can't do.

@Dyne1319: Hi! We have described the cause of changing the manufacturer. In short the prices, we have received (after the update) vs. the number of games we need to produce (smaller box) increased the price in the final offer:( so we had two paths: cut the quality of the components or reorganize the production: we have decided to don the second path.

    9. Dyne1319

wow! That it one hell of a delay, for a game that has 0 mini's and is all printed cardboard and neopreen. Games with far more content complete in far less time with great quality. This must have been a great deal of oversight on your part or something else has happend that we have not bee apprised of. As this seems like a crazy amount of time for a game of this scale.

I would like to know more about what transpired to cause the move to china in far more detail since you had knowledge of the production for sometime I would have assumed that was already factored in before this stage was reached.

But its kickstarter so it is what it is I'm sure the game will be great when it gets here but with that timeline, I would not have backed the game cause that is far to long for a game with so little production needed (no mini's plastic tokens)

But it is what it is I guess.

    10. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@grocal - we will figure something out for all A4 Quest Backers as well (as a gift). Thank you for mentioning that. We will try to make everything that is possible to make you satisfied in the end. It's our first project with a longer delay, so we are trying to do our best to find good solutions.
@Mas - I hope in the end you will be satisfied with the quality of a product you will receive. Thank you for your opinion.

      Mas on

I would have never backed a project that was going to take over a year to deliver, let alone one that is 'delayed' for nearly a year!

I'm not sure I care much for the product to wait that long. Oh well I guess its a lesson learnt for all of us.

    12. grocal on

Also, as an "I'm a sorry gift," we want to share with you more content for Page Quest Season 1 (not only the first episode, you have already received).

Real bummer for faithful backers of A4/Page Quest who already have those materials. All and all such delay (10 months!) is ridiculous and I still don't get why you promised something different. From my point of view it's like starting from the scratch. This is a last project from you I'm backing up, unfortunately.

    13. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@Ingebrigt Megård - Of course. We will be keeping you up to date. And you can count on that.

I am dissapointed that january delivery, which your October 16th statement implied (ref Rousseau below), appears to have been "fake news",
Always happy for transparancy, so hope this latest update will show us that you now intend to keep us informed about actual progress, and not misguide us anymore in the future.

    15. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

Guys, thank you so much for your great support!
@Johan - we will try to prepare something cool for you as well :)

      Thank you!

    16. Missing avatar

But i believe the result will worth the delay....

    17. TigerNineThree

Delays always happen. Don't care who it is. Some companies, creators handle it the right way. Some do not. You definitely are handling it the right way. Even if I don't partake in the other items offered I thank you enough to give backers choices. See you next year! :)

    18. Missing avatar

On october 16th, i asked you : "are you behind delivery ? "
And your answer was : "Right now we are not late on the delivery. And we will do what we can to not be late."
But now you tell us that the work is finished at 80%. So you knew that you couldn't be on time.
Delays can happen and i understand but i don't accept lies.
Right now you are honest (and i hope you are but i have doubts) but you should be since the beginning.

    19. Jess Turner

Transparency about delays always helps, so thank you for that! I would always rather have a delay and a good quality game at the end. Several projects I have backed have been upwards of a year (one almost two!) late and they have completely been worth the wait. I expect the same will be true here. 😊

    20. Johan Maes

If I had known that you would slash prices in half for games other than the one I backed I never would have bought them in Essen... Not that I expect you to slash pledge level amounts in half :D

    21. John L Vogt

Delays are a bummer, transparency about them removes the sting. Thanks for the good update.

I would consider moving the suspicion track to the edge of the mat.

      Keep up the good works!

    22. SMYR

Well, that's a bummer. But so far I'm not concerned. Super Hot went super smooth and it's a pity that this is not the case with this campaign but everything I got from you to this point was of great quality and gave me fun times. There are a view games I didn't get and the bright side for me ia, that I can grab them thanks to the current situation. And when A4 arrives at my door I'll have one more game to shorten the wait. Thanks for the update!

    23. Anthony Czerwonka

Im with Jeff here too.. Everyone else has delayed their project, why not you, right?!?!?
Not Happy, but nothing we can do....
Now we gotta wait 11 months to see if you Ninja/SodaPop us!

    24. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@Mats Forsén: that's the plan. Thank you for understanding.

Not ideal, but I can live with it. Reasonable of you to take the Chinese New Year into account, but I hope you get all your ducks in a row before it starts so they really can start right after.

    26. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@Terry Kolhoff: Thank you! And thanks for your opinion about the game mat. I will send it to the dev team

Gotta say it very disappointing to hear there is such a long delay planned. I'm hoping your estimates are much longer than needed. I'm having a hard time understanding though how it seems like no progress was made for so long and now all of a sudden you need to delay. Sigh... I was looking forward having before xmas when I backed it. As for the mat.. I like everything EXCEPT the suspision tracker. It's still the mess it was on your original brd. If need be to make it look uniform make it run along the lower edge of the brd or mat. OR change the shape of the tracker markers to be square so it will look better.

    28. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@Dani - Thank you! We will work as hard as we can to make you happy from the final quality. Thank you!

I’m disappointed but I understand the situation and I remain hopeful for the quality of the final product. Thanks for the hard work

@Boris - I want to thank you guys for being patient. We will keep you up to date regularly.

      Thanks for keeping us updated.

    32. Board&Dice 7-time creator on

@Jeff - I can fully understand you. We feel bad for this as well. What we can promise, is that we will do our best to short this as much as we can. We don't want more delays. Our main goal is to make the game a reality ASAP. Hope the final product will make your mood better.

    33. Jeff Knapp on

Wow, so... The project was funded in May of 2018 and you advertised delivery of the finished product in January of 2019 - 8 months. Now it's November of 2018 and you're suggesting a delivery in October of 2019 - 13 months. So not only has 6 months gone by, but you've tacked on another 5 months to your delivery window - so the project has stretched from 8 months to 19 months?!? Do you work for the US Government?!

I mean I know what folks will say; "This is Kickstarter - deal with it," but I work full-time in Project Management - this is what I do, and if I told a client my 8 month delivery promise just turned to 19 months, I wouldn't expect to have them as a client for much longer...

I'm disappointed - I was really hoping to be playing this game in a few more months.
