Christmas of 2010 a simple light flared into life. While sitting in the lunch room at work listening to the Christmas music and Christmas cheer, I started to wonder “What would Christmas be like if you added Zombies?” To this end I took the classic Christmas Poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and set out to remake it. With original book by my side to keep my writing in the correct rhythm set up so many years before, I started writing the poem ‘Twas the Zombie Attack Before Christmas. With pen in one hand and hot coco in the other, I swiftly worked my way through the story of the neighbor Nick being attacked in the middle of the front lawn on the night before Christmas. I kept the rhyme scheme as close to the original poem as possible and kept it the same length as my homage to the original beloved story.
November 0f 2011 saw me finally typing up “Zombie Attack” and uploading it to smashwords as a .99 cent ebook. By the time 2012 came along, I had sold 35 copies of the book online simply by word of mouth utilizing social media such as facebook and the couple of blogs I have started. Even though I had the sales I had always dreamt of and was now a published author, I couldn’t help but think that this project was far from over. So I went to my friend, Kate, the artist at Naughty Bicycle, and asked her to make me a cover image for the book so I could be listed in the “premium catalogue” with smashwords. When I saw the cover image, I then knew exactly what this book was missing. It was missing pictures and it was missing a print version!
So I come to you today to ask you to help me make my dream come true. Help me take my first solo book and make it perfect, the way it should be. We need help financing this because even though my friend is doing the art, I still need to pay her, and once I get the art I need to pay for the printing cost. To this end, we are seeking financing of $800. This will pay for the artwork in the book (28 pages worth of artwork), plus it will pay for the printing of 100 copies of the finished work either through RAComics Direct or Createspace, and it will pay for the shipping and handling charges.
If we make more than our target amount, the extra money will go to getting us tables at local cons in order to sell the new book, as financing towards our other book projects (currently in planning stages), and upgrading our equipment for future projects in both the writing and youtube areas.
As a way of saying ‘thank you’ to everyone who helps us out, we are offering the following package deals on the right:
