We're creating a fantasy dating adventure with a twist. Sure, we have monsters, and who -doesn't- want to date monsters? The actual twist, though, is that our characters have depth, personality, and they are dealing with real issues faced by real people. Life is funny, sad, difficult, thrilling, crushing, unfair and uplifting. You'll run into all of that in Soulless Wonder as you meet the diverse cast who each face their own demons... metaphorical demons. There may also be actual demons who themselves have metaphorical demons. You... get the idea. We will look at serious topics such as grief and loss, bullying, transgender issues, asexuality, same-sex relationships, mental health, and more. You'll face plenty of choices with dramatic repercussions as you try to guide our hero-of-sorts, Lantz the Bard, on his quest to win back his soul.
Inspired by the freedom of choice in Telltale Games and the artistic stylings and conversation mechanics of NIS America's visual novels, Soulless Wonder lets the player decide how Lantz expresses himself. With full voice acting (and the possibility of lip sync) we want to draw you into the story.
The game spans ten chapters: the Introduction, one character per monster girl, and an exciting conclusion that reflects the choices you made along the way! Soulless Wonder will feature roughly between nine and ten hours of gameplay.
Lantz is a bard who has it good... living in a castle, dating the beautiful and powerful Paladin Queen Zarwyn... he's even the star performer at all the royal events. Trouble, though, is not far off. An angry Queen, a necromancer's amulet, and a rather unfortunate misunderstanding crash together in a dramatic confrontation that ends with Lantz's soul shattered and scattered!
The bard is cursed and cast out of the kingdom, with no friends other than Mina and Tandy, two hunters in Zarwyn's employ who occasionally cross his path. The only way for Lantz to restore his soul is to walk among the peoples beyond the castle walls, those regarded as monsters, and to learn the meaning love.
Lantz will travel through numerous regions, each populated by a different culture from monsterkind. None of these folks are particularly happy to have a human wandering their world, but even so: Lantz must convince one of their number to fall in love with him. He will not always succeed, and the relationships that he forms with those whom he meets will each have dramatic reprecussions on the end of his tale.
Here's a brief introduction to our eight dateable characters.
Fox Girl - She is the last of her kind after Zarwyn's recently ended campaign to eradicate monsters claimed her tribe. Her upbeat demeanor masks the heavy weight of her loss.
Slime Girl - She is much more interested in her scientific research than dealing with a human's problems. Lantz looks more like a snack to her than someone she could ever love.
The Eldritch Horror - From beyond this dimension, inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft, a nameless being has possessed the body of a quirky investigator. This chapter explores not only her sanity, but Lantz's mental health as well.
Zombie - Functional and mostly conscious of her actions, this young girl has lived for a generation in the ruins of her village. Her family treats her terribly for clinging to what is left of her humanity. Lantz must brave the zombie infection to help her escape her ravenous relatives.
- Ghost Of The Manor - Lantz comes across a mansion upon cursed land that houses a restless spirit. She can't communicate with the bard, but Mina and Tandy assure him that the ghostly apparition counts as a monster he must romance. To free her spirit, Lantz must comb through journals, letters, and other clues to learn the secret of her past.
Genie - She is an immortal being, less outwardly monstrous than most. She and Lantz fall into a wild adventure with her tribe to rescue the sacred artifacts that grant the genies their eternal life.
Goblin - Beauty is a curse to goblinkind. Lantz meets a goblin girl who is shunned because of her "stunning good looks." At least from a goblin perspective anyway. Her struggle for acceptance and issues with body image show just who is more monstrous... her or her kin.
- Succubus - The one who got Lantz cursed in the first place returns to consume his soul. Bullied by her fellow succubi, she wants to prove herself but is stuck with a soulless bard following her around instead.
We'll reveal more details about Lantz's world as our campaign continues.
- Play through the entire story as a female version of Lantz.
Fans have been eagerly asking if there will be a way to play as a female version of Lantz instead. If we can reach the goal of $39,000 to cover the additional programming and artwork, we will include the additional option to play as female Lantz.
- Expanded Soundtrack To Embellish The Emotional Tale!
Our soundtrack is already going to be full of memorable themes for characters and places, but to really accentuate and emphasize the dramatic moments that punctuate our story, we need MORE MUSIC! This stretch goal will allow us to broaden the soundtrack and add unique tracks for major turning points!
- Additional Event CG's To Enhance The Story!
Your hard-earned dollars will be spent on additional art to capture the most dramatic moments throughout the game. This stretch goal unlocks many new images that will bring the world of Soulless Wonder to soulless life.... zombie life? Life! Of some kind. Events that tell important parts of Lantz's story will be depicted in spectacular splash drawings.
- Further Mystery Unlocks Await!

Risks and challenges
The game is already in production and with your support we can continue our work on Soulless Wonder. There are always hurdles to leap in videogame development, but we're in good shape. We work out. Really! Visual novels are one of the less demanding game genres from a technical standpoint, and we have all completed many projects in the past. This one will be no different. We just need money to put food on the table. And to buy a table, for the food.
We are on Steam Greenlight and need your support! Should we meet our goal here but fail to get on Steam, we will still distribute your copy of the game digitally.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
