Rise of the Cult of Nagfa is an adventure filled with bravery and betrayal, mystery and heroism. There are ancient, dark forces at work near the town of Newton. You and your small band of friends has decided that Newton needs some heroes. It has been years since there was much need for a party of adventurers, but that time has passed, and the need has once again arisen. Travel the lands in search of the Duke's son and his missing party of researchers; discover if the rumors about the plague of frogs and the reappearance of the swamps are true. If the rumors are true, what do they mean? Is the great, vile Troll Lord Nagfa returning to continue what he could not a century ago? When you met the sister of the Duke's missing son, what was she hiding? These are but a few of the mysteries to be uncovered before you can save the realm from the evil encroaching upon it and possibly from within it.
LAST DAY update from the swamps! (Geez, I need a shower!)

The adventure Rise of the Cult of Nagfa is targeted to be a multi-part medium to long adventure that will take characters from first level through about sixth level (depending on accomplishments). My goal is to produce a module approximately fifty-two pages long. I am striving to make it a rich, full adventure with many twists and turns, and I give ample control to the GM to guide the adventure in the direction that will provide the most fun for his or her adventuring group. The module will contain suggestions for several different options within the campaign that will add different types of flavor depending on the GM's preferences. My steady group of playtesters provides constant feedback which helps to develop the game into a truly epic experience for them. Different sections of the game will be playtested at OwlCon 2013 in Houston, TX, February 15th-17th 2013 on the campus of Rice University! YOU could sign up to playtest it! The module included within this Kickstarter is the pre-publication edition, which will be printed in high quality with a color cover and back along with several maps and handouts. Anyone who backs at a level receiving a printed copy of the pre-publication version, will also receive a FREE PDF of the full publication version which will be released by Skirmisher Publishing LLC in mid 2013. This adventure will be compatible for integration with the Skirmisher Publishing's Swords of Kos Fantasy Campaign Setting or by itself as a stand-alone adventure and can easily be worked into an existing campaign.
My main goal with this project is to share it with those of you helping me produce it. Many of the award levels are geared toward you, the backer, as a way of shaping the details of the adventure. For example, one of the award levels allows backers to create and name one of the pregenerated characters that will be included in the module. Another award goal allows a backer to rename the town where the adventure kicks off, and yet another allows a backer to create and name the town's Mayor! I really want this to be YOUR project. I want YOU to help me detail and become a part of the process. Now, of course, the storyline is set, as are the plots and sub-plots, but you can help shape many of the names and places which will be included. Yes, you will get credit for any names and/or places you create in the module, and they will be printed for all to enjoy!
The base funding goal of $750.00 for this Kickstarter project will allow me to fund the production of approximately fifty copies of the module and accessories as mentioned in the award levels. As stretch goals are achieved, and number of backers warrants it, that number will rise based on those added funds. The stretch goals have been carefully priced out and will fit into the budget at those stretch goal levels. Some of the funds will go to the artist(s), most to printing costs, shipping, project related travel and expenses (to the printers, prototype costs, etc.) Unless this project completely goes crazy, I am not planning on making much profit from it, rather my goal is to have a fully ready-to-print product to take to my publisher who will be able to produce the finished product large-scale and distribute it on an international level.
Okay, So Let's Talk Some STRETCH GOALS!!!
Everyone, including me, likes stretch goals, so I have a few planned out and will think of more along the way I am sure! Once we hit the goal of $750.00, here is what you can expect will be included in the main published release of the module and all items on this list can be obtained through various Backer Pledge Levels:
- FULL COLOR cover and back splash
-About eight black & white illustrations throughout the module and at least one full page art piece by artist Sean McGarity!
-An 11" X 17" black and white map of the town where the adventure begins.
-At LEAST three color handouts for the players.
-One 2-sided 8.5" X 11" COLOR map consisting of an OVERLAND and DUNGEON map.
ANYONE who pledges Noble Knight of the Realm or higher will receive the following bonuses when the goals are achieved, MOST of which will be included FREE. A couple may have a nominal fee to cover costs and extra shipping, but if it doesn't have a price on it... IT IS FREE with the pledge of a Noble Knight of the Realm!!!

$850.00: I wanted the first stretch goal to be something everyone could enjoy! More artwork!!! At this Stretch Goal, I will commission at least four more black and white images for the adventure as well as add full page artwork at the beginning of every section. Sean McGarity is an incredible artist who will capture the essence of the adventure through illustration. I am delighted to have him on board and I think you will be as delighted to see his work in print, bringing the action to life!
$1250.00: At this stretch goal, I will be adding a 19" X 27" COLOR POSTER MAP of the UNDERGROUND COMPLEX OF NAGFA.
$2000.00: At this stretch goal, I will be turning the one sided COLOR POSER MAP into TWO COLOR POSTER MAPS, one of the UNDERGROUND COMPLEX of NAGFA and the other will be the OVERLAND REGIONAL MAP.
$2750.00: When the Kickstarter hits this goal, I will be commissioning an 8.5"X11" sheet of die cut counters which will be exclusive to this adventure. It will include anything that you would not normally have a counter for! It will include somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 exclusive counters. There will be about forty 1" round counters for small or medium creatures and about ten 2" round counters for larger creatures. This will be an add-on goal for $5.00 for the counters and there will be a limit of 200 at this price. If there are additional requests, the price over the first 200 will be $7.00 for the counters. (Because I am absorbing the remainder of the cost of the counter sheets, the production cost as a percentage of the project cost goes up with higher quantities.)
$3250.00: ANOTHER FREE BONUS GOAL - CUSTOM COUNTER BOX!
At this level, I will commission a custom foldable box with artwork from the adventure to store your custom counters. This will be slightly larger than a playing card box and will accommodate all of the counters included with the $2750.00 level.
I would like to take suggestions for further stretch goals. I have a few in mind, but like I said, I want this to be YOUR project as much as it is mine!
THIS is the format for the "Royal Finger" signet ring backer level:
All submissions by backers will become the property of the author, and although credit will be given in print and digital format for the submissions, there will be no compensation given or paid to the contributors to this project other than the persons commissioned specifically by contract by the author (for example, the artists). Backers of these levels understand that they are being awarded for their pledge by being able to submit a specific piece of material and idea for the portion of the project that they are pledging for and no other part of the adventure or story. Backers agree that the characters or ideas they submit might also be used in subsequent printed or digital materials and will not be paid any sort of royalties for their contributions, ideas, characters or submissions. Backers also must understand that they cannot submit any names or situations or materials that are copyrighted or owned by an existing party; all submissions must be of the backer's own imagination and must be fitting of a sword-and-sorcery, medieval fantasy setting. By pledging at one of these backer levels, you agree to these conditions and will not interfere with the completion process whatsoever.

One of the main challenges is that I will be coordinating this publication for the most part, during pre-production, on my own. I have gathered artists from across the United States to complete the artwork which I will be guiding and commissioning as part of this Kickstarter. So success means art - lots of it! The challenge is coordinating completion times and approving the artwork as it is finished. That coupled with the fact that some of the art will be based upon ideas submitted by backers which will need special commission of the artists.
Making sure the backers who pledge at the levels where they can contribute their work to the module get their work in on time for scheduled deadlines will also be a challenge. (Unless, of course, everyone gets submissions in to me on time!!!)
