About this project
"What is Meet The Mouse?"
Meet The Mouse is a double-whammy of both a unique WebTV show AND a fantastic members website, designed for the most enthusiastic of Disney enthusiasts. The WebTV show, is a sparkling, fun, joyful celebration of all things Disney, wrapped up in one shiny, bi-monthly WebTV show package. The website – www.MeetTheMouse.com - is loaded to the brim with fun and frivolity, and it’s chock-full of secret corners, fab resources and unbelievable true stories.
The preview video above will give you a good idea of the style, content, and quality of the show.
"Hasn't this all been done before?"
Actually, Meet The Mouse is completely ground-breaking. It's the first regular, high-quality, fan-produced show about Disney, for Disney fans. The show takes you behind the scenes and reveals top secret stories and fascinating facts you never knew about Disney - the man, the company, the brand, and the parks. PLUS, because the show is fan-produced it's uncensored by Disney – all the cool stuff you always wondered about Disney, with no ‘Disney Corporate’ filter. Sounds good already, doesn’t it?!
"How did you come up with this idea?"
Luci and Andrew first thought of the concept back in 2010. We have both always loved Disney – Andrew more from a business perspective (being the strong, silent type, not easily given to the frivolity and technicolors that are Disney!), and Luci from the magical story-telling perspective (having grown up with My Little Pony, fairy dust and magic carpets in every room). With our combined backgrounds in marketing and TV production, it wasn’t long before we realized that there simply isn’t a high quality TV show or website out there for true Disney enthusiasts – somewhere a Disney enthusiast can go to get their Disney ‘fix’ without visiting the parks, or where they can jabber away with fellow friends and not feel judged. That's how Meet The Mouse was born.
The project stalled because we were missing an important piece in the skillset puzzle. The missing piece appeared about six months ago, when the heavens parted to the sound of angels singing and the halo-surrounded Laura descended! Since then the project has been progressing in leaps and bounds.
Something the three of us have in common (other than being total Disney nutters) is that we each LOVE making people happy. It's a simple philosophy, but one that colors everything we do, both with Meet The Mouse and in our everyday lives. We're excited to share that with the world...
"Why do we need funds?"
Simply put, creating a webTV series is surprisingly expensive - there are many costs involved in creating a high-quality product, including paying the production crew, studio and equipment costs, location fees, and legal paperwork. We'll also have to pay additional post-production personnel, such as editors and graphic design artists.
We want to make this the highest quality show possible – both from a production and content standpoint, and that doesn’t come cheap. We’ve already spent the contents of our piggy banks in recording the first few episodes! Passion alone doesn’t fund a TV show. Pity, really - we’ve got that in spades!
Every cent raised for this project will go into the production, so the more we raise, the bigger and better we can go with this project.
"Who’s behind the project?"
To say we’re fanatical about Disney would be the understatement of the CENTURY! The incomparable geniuses behind the project are husband and wife team extraordinaire – Luci and Andrew Lock, and fellow Disney nut Laura Waage. We each bring something different to the table, but our collective talents make one dynamic team!
Luci produces, writes and presents the "Meet The Mouse" show, as well as lending her fun writing skills to the members area of the website. She is no stranger to WebTV, having had a successful and long-running WebTV show on the world’s largest natural health website, creating quite a following in the process.
Andrew is an online marketing ninja, with a long history in video production, live event production and talent management (which is handy, considering his wife is such a diva!). He Directs and Produces the show, oversees post-production, as well as the marketing strategy. His own WebTV show, ‘Help! My Business Sucks!,’ has been number One in the Marketing category on iTunes for over three years, with a regular audience of over 100,000 viewers.
Laura is a self-confessed Disney nut, with a long, successful history in marketing and sales, managing to make two yawn-inducing industries fresh and fun. Laura oversees content and marketing for the website, and serves as mediator and occasional hose-operator for Andrew and Luci’s ‘brainstorming’ sessions!
"What’s the status of the production?"
Eleven complete episodes have been shot and edited and are now almost ready to light up your TV, iPod, or computer screen! The website is being built and loaded up with goodies. We’re gearing up for another big shoot in the fall. The big, door-busting premiere of the show and website is currently set for Sep/Oct 2012 – we want as few opening-day bumps as possible, so we’re frantically ironing and steaming as we speak!
