For the last five years, Mex and the City and Carlos Alvarez Montero have curated and shot more than one hundred portraits alongside Q&A’s to highlight the professional successes of individuals in New York, Mexico City, and Los Angeles, elevating them as inspiration makers for our online editorial series, Racial Profiling.  For the first time ever, Racial Profiling groups Mexican nationals and Mexican Americans as a new global Mexican, promoting the heightened successes of young professionals and their contributions to society across industries and nations.

The funds we raise will go to designing and printing the book as an art object, resource, and tool for communication. The series exists to show the full extent of the collective brain trust of the many individuals featured. It is at once a photo art book and catalog of accomplishments.

Risks and challenges

Publishing such a book is a tremendous honor and task. We will be challenged with our own full-time work and keeping the deadlines of a busy book production deadline. With more than 100 people featured, we will have regular obstacles in collecting all information but that is the joy in sharing such an important project.

While this Kickstater is just to raise money for the design and development of the book, we are on the hunt for an art book publisher to stand behind it for greater distribution. So we still need community support to make it happen both financially and in getting as much press and public acknowledgement as possible.

We thank you for every little step to get us there!
