Birmingham City University Arts-based Masters Programme presents: 'A Line Drawn from the Eye to the Summit'
The final and interim show for the students on the Arts-Based Masters Programme 2015, to be held at the historic Margaret Street building.
The opening night is Friday 4th September and the show runs until the 10th September 2015. ‘A Line Drawn from the Eye to the Summit’ brings together over 70 artists and philosophers from Birmingham City Universities Arts-Based Masters Programme. It is an opportunity to see exciting new work and emerging talents from students brought together from across Europe, Asia and the UK. The exhibition offers the public the chance to buy work direct from these vibrant new artists.
The show takes place at the grade 1 listed Margaret Street building, the first purpose built art school in the UK, which today is recognised as the most important art school outside of London. ‘A Line Drawn from the Eye to the Summit’ will showcase the results of the intensive research and practice that the students have undertaken. This final exhibition is designed, curated and publicised by the students themselves. All the students have already contributed over half of the money required for this project, we are hoping that through the Kickstarter campaign we will raise the remaining amount to pay for the production of a catalogue, advertising, production costs etc. You can support us and have the chance to snap up some original prints and artwork, here at our kickstarter campaign. We are grateful for your generosity and involvement in this exciting project.
Risks and challenges
We want to make sure we offer the best experience to all our audiences. This funding will allow us to offer a great evening and week for everyone that attends.
There are specific and significant costs incurred by producing an MA show in a Grade I Listed Art and Crafts building. Not being able to put even one nail into the original fabric of the Margaret Street building means that our spaces require preparation of a supremely high standard before installation. This includes not only cleaning and painting, but in addition; providing solutions for fixings, fastenings, boards and lighting that will showcase our work in the best way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
