WE HIT OUR FIRST STRETCH GOAL OF £50K!!
*SECOND STRETCH GOAL £55K*
If we raise £55k we'll be able to record the Frank & Nick radio shows!!
These have already been written by Alan and we have just been waiting for the opportunity to get the actors into a recording studio. With the additional money raised during this campaign, we'll be able to record these shows that we've been sitting on for over a year! Any other additional funds will go towards the art direction for His Heavy Heart and it's narrative development.
FIRST STRETCH GOAL: FRANK & NICK MAKE YOU SICK.
Matchbright and Metterton have a strained relationship. It may be a professional one but as we all know, it's also one that crosses boundaries in more way than one. On one particularly drunken evening, they decide to wax lyrical and improv an obscene dialogue which rapidly spirals out of control.
This would be a mini short - it'a a simple set up, filmed in Metterton's living room. We never thought we'd make this, but given the opportunity, we'd LOVE to!
Frank & Nick Make You Sick will be included on the DVD and in the download option.

His Heavy Heart is the piece de resistance of the 5 part cycle. Really, it's the icing on the cake. It seeks to provide some closure to our troubled leading man Jimmy, which frankly, I think we could all do with. At the moment, he is trapped in the unsettling and deeply sinister limbo of the Working Men's Club. Neither present by choice, or given the means to abscond his surreal situation, he hurtles towards his inevitable descent into the next stage of his story.
It's the final piece in the Jimmy's End series of shorts that are the foundations of a planned full length feature film - The Show. This feature will eventually expand on the world created in this five part cycle.
Money pledged from you for this project will go towards the creation of His Heavy Heart as well as the production of all the amazing and exclusive rewards available here. Any additional funds raised during the Kickstarter process will go into further development of the existing series and towards the forthcoming feature film.
Squirrels and Hitchcock issues aside (come on, you've watched the pledge video, right?!) we have the story in our heads and on paper, and we need you to come on board and help us finish the final chapter in this epic journey into an unknown world.
Well, it's pretty simple really. We want to make the film that is in our heads and the draft that's on the paper. It's difficult to fund short films in the traditional manner, especially something like the Jimmy's End cycle which is comprised of different lengths and varying subject matter. We want to stay true to the original vision and produce a film that is as close as feasibly possible to Alan's screenplay and Mitch's directorial vision. Kickstarter is a unique opportunity to create our vision with the help of our fans. We are committed to developing our independent projects and want to work with our fans to realise our ambitions.
The Jimmy's End saga is made up of five shorts. Rather like a comic book series, each film in the cycle contributes to the overall story, as well as having a clear, standalone narrative and purpose.
What we've made so far....
Part 1: Act of Faith
The eerie, and borderline surreal short starring Siobhan Hewlett that begins our introduction to the world of The Show. Faith Harrington, a young female reporter on a local newspaper who has an exotic private life, prepares for a stimulating evening at home that doesn’t go according to plan. Act of Faith is the introduction to this series of five films and features Siobbhan Hewlett. It's a lonely, almost monological look at surreal game of chance and poor circumstance. Act of Faith was shot in December 2011 and acts as a prelude to the longest section of the series, Jimmy's End.
Part 2: Jimmy's End
Louche and hard-drinking womaniser James Mitchum (Darrell D'Silva) finds himself wandering into one strange bar too many. Filmed though the lushly textured eye of Jenkin's light saturated photography, Jimmy's End is a deliberate foray into the uncanny constructed through Moore's eyes.
"Jimmy’s End’ came about after a photoshoot I had done for Alan’s fanzine called Dodgem Logic and I just really wanted to recreate that photo shoot as a short film. Alan then offered to do the screenplay, but it was only after that that we then thought, hang on, if we take everything we have learnt from Unearthing and put that into the short film then it will make for a much more diverse and cohesive kind of project, because every single element means something and furthers the narrative. We have a series of short films that we call showpieces and they all fit together like a little jigsaw, building up to the feature film, The Show." - Mitch Jenkins
"Jenkins has expertly crafted a haunting glimpse into the world of those tortured by their desires" - Shorts of the Week
"Defiantly avante garde, this louche and oddly sinister vignette suggests that Moore...is determinedly disinterested in regurgitating his own comic-book back catalogue: we're definitely not in Smallville any more." - The Guardian
Yet to be released...
Part 3. Upon Reflection
Leonard Brock talks shop in a fly on the wall view of St. James Working Mens Club. The arrival of a visitor disrupts the maudlin equilibrium of the evening.
Part 4. A Professional Relationship
Matchbright and Metterton - a working partnership, a meeting of two minds. A Double Act. Well at least that's the general concept. All is fair in love and war.
Both Upon Reflection and A Professional Relationship act as companion pieces to Jimmy's End and add depth to certain scenes that are not lingered upon during the film. They deserved a title and moment of their own and allow us to get to know other members of the Working Mens Club in intimate settings. But you'll have to wait a little longer to find out any more...
Part 5. His Heavy Heart -
This is the last part of the cycle and we need your help to complete it!
His Heavy Heart pulls James out of that white light and back into colour.
We don't want to give away too much at this stage, but we can give you three facts about His Heavy Heart.
1. There's glitter, gold and rust
2. There is a smiling man with an inappropriate personal soundtrack
3. Traditional rules and regulations of processes are observed.

Risks and challenges
We are working to a shoot date but both Mitch and Alan and the actors involved are working on other projects - sometimes you cannot account for a last minute job coming up and delaying production or moving a shoot date, but we are all working towards an October 2013 schedule.
Production and fulfillment
Manufacturing - that crazy, unpredictable wedge of a project that is subject to every tiny cog falling perfectly into place. Anyone that has ever worked in production can tell you that the oddest things can and will happen when you least expect it, disrupting your schedule by days, weeks or even months. We will endeavour to deliver all products on their schedule release date, but if there is any chance something goes wrong - you will be notified immediately and kept fully up to date.
Likewise - we will work with a courier company that we know, trust and have used before to ensure that your reward reaches you on time, intact and well packaged.
When the campaign is over, we will keep you up to date with the production, post production, manufacturing and delivery of His Heavy Heart and all products contained in the Kickstarter reward tiers to make sure that you are fully in the loop. If you want to ask us a question, do email firstname.lastname@example.org at any point and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
All problems, delays and hurdles successfully managed will be included in weekly updates following the project via the Showpieces facebook page:Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
