About this project
The Booklamp is an energy efficient and sustainable lamp, handmade of wood and copper. A LED light is incorporated in the armature, which will last at least 30 (yes thirty!) years. The lamp can transform your space and mood easily, by simply replacing the book for another one, as a lampshade. Because of the thin wire the book appears to be floating in the air, which works your imagination.
Cim and Tessa developed the Booklamp together, which Tessa designed 10 years ago, further to what it is today. Next to being very good friends, they compliment each other in their talents and ways of thinking.
Tessa Kuyvenhoven is a very talented interior/product designer. She graduated at the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague in 2004. Her designs are simple, yet characteristic and made with natural materials as much as possible, crafted with care and attention to detail. The designs should give a richer experience to everyday life. In 2006 she founded Studio Intussen. Studio Intussen develops projects and designs for companies and individuals.
Member of the Association of Dutch Designers [Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers] since 2007.
Since the first sketch of the lamp 10 years ago, many have passed. At first the armature was made out of aluminium. Here you can see a few sketches, made by Tessa, of the previous types.
Cim Froeling has love for good products/concepts and branding the ones that deserve it. From building her own store to creating concepts for brands. She does this with her heart and a lot of creative thinking.
Our pledged amount lies at 8500 euro’s. With this money we can order the minimum batch of wire, which will be specially made for us, and 50 armatures to start production. The armatures and ceiling caps are made by specialized Dutch wood craftsmen. We are in close contact with them and we can guarantee that they are made with care. After that we can produce them ourselves at our studio. We can ship the first batch of 50 Booklamps within a month after we pledged our budget. After that we would need a maximum of one month to produce each 50 pieces etcetera.

Risks and challenges
It took many prototypes and a worldwide search for the right elements to make this lamp perfect. As well in use as in durability. Everything has been sorted out with care and time.
As we assemble and produce the lamps ourselves at our studio, there could always be an unforeseen difficulty. None the less we've tested and tested and tested and we're confident the Booklamp will light many of your days.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
