Saturday Morning Games is a battle table-top game based off of popular Saturday Morning Cartoons! Fight over random weapons, with popular characters from multiple shows and conquer your opponent by winning all of their bowls of cereal!
Why 80's Cartoons? Why Cereal? What's going on here?
When I was a kid, I had a Saturday Morning Routine; Grab a bowl of cereal, run downstairs to watch my favorite Saturday Morning cartoons, and then spend the rest of the morning playing video games. In retrospect, I think this was birth of my career in the games industry.
I used this sacred time of my youth as inspiration for Saturday Morning Games. A battle royale using parodied characters from those beloved 80's cartoons, where cereal was (and literally in this game) life's blood!
I'm looking for funding to manufacture a first printing of Saturday Morning Games, which will not only fulfill the demand of the Kickstarter, but also to have copies to take to conventions, sell through local retailers, and send to press for review.
Each player has 3 cards from the base deck (in hand) and 2 weapons cards placed in front of them with the info exposed Players can only make one action per turn and must always have 3 base cards in hand. If a player uses a base card or a weapon card they must replace it by drawing a new one.
Once a player achieves a full matching chain; one weapons card, one character card (black), and 1 action card (white) or 1 wild card (purple), they can deal damage to any player on the table in the amount specified on the weapons card. The player hit will then have to forefit that same amount in cereal bowl tokens to the attacker. If that amount is equal or greater than the amount of cereal bowl tokens they have left, they die! The last player to have cereal bowl tokens wins!
To use a weapon, a player must match both an action card (white card), and a character card (black card), to a weapons card that is theirs or another players. Players can only put down one card per turn. Once a weapons card is in play, the player will place one of their standees on the weapons card to mark which weapon they are racing toward. Players will only have two standees each and can only race toward two weapons at a time. If the player uses another players weapon they will have to place one of their own cereal bowl tokens on the weapon card in order to use it. Players can also trap any weapon on the table with a Blocked! card. Once a card is blocked, it sits in the middle and can only be freed/claimed if a player added the listed amount of cereal bowl tokens to the weapons card. If cereal bowl tokens were already on the weapons card when it was blocked, the tokens remain trapped with the card along with any tokens added when it was freed. The player who uses the the weaponwill gain all cereal bowl tokens trapped inside of it!
In addition, players will be able to place bonus cards to either enhance future attacks or decrease future damage. These bonuses effect the player, and are not attached/linked to any card on the table. Once a player makes an attack or recieved damage, they can declare the use of the card. This is the only card that can be used in addition to another card during a turn.
Risks and challenges
While having almost 20 years of game industry experience, this is my first indie game and my first tabletop game for that matter. That said, I've been a Producer and a Designer for a variety of products in the past, and with that skill set, and feedback from folks at a multiple expos, I feel that I have a game that is truly fun and simple to play.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
