Before we do our update, we wanted to say that our thoughts are with anyone in the Kickstarter community who has been affected by Hurricane Sandy. As anyone who has read our project page knows, we are based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which was a big target in the storm. However, we were so lucky to experience minimal damage from Hurricane Sandy, especially when so many of our friends and family were not so lucky. We are thinking of all of you this week and we hope everyone is ok.
On a much lighter note, we’re excited to say we got our first batch of rewards out today, and we hope all our amazing backers for this pledge like their Alder Natural Hair Powders! We have to say they’ve been perfect this hurricane week, when showering daily seems to have fallen by the wayside.
We are also moving right along with our Fall 2013 collection, and have set a shoot day for mid December. We can’t wait to show you all the results! Please stay safe, everyone.

WE MADE IT! We are so excited to announce that with two days to go, we have surpassed our Kickstarter goal, thanks to all of you. Because of your support, we will be creating our Fall 2013 line, and we could not be happier.
We want to do one more spotlight today for anyone who is still debating a pledge or just curious about the details of our garments. Today we are spotlighting our Adventure Pocket Parka, which is yours when you pledge $200. Like all of our Alder New York products, this jacket is made in NYC out of high-quality fabrics and materials.
Made of 100% linen sourced in NYC, the Pocket Parka has six patch pockets with flaps, and a variegated button closure on each pocket. The sleeves have a button tab on the cuff which can be adjusted for fit.
At the back neck there is an interior loop for hanging the parka and an Alder New York SS13 label inspired by original United Garment Workers Union labels. The hood and hem have a cotton rope drawstring finished with cylindrical metal pulls.
Thank you all so much again for making our Kickstarter campaign a success. We could not have done this without your support, encouragement, advice, and sharing of our project. We cannot wait to show you our Fall 2013 collection and send you your Alder New York rewards in the months to come. In the meantime, we still have two days to go so if there’s anyone you know who has been debating making a pledge, tell them now is the time to do so or they'll miss out!
We are almost there! With four days left we only have 8% to go, and we have everyone who has already pledged to thank for our success.
Today we want to spotlight our Linen Patch Long Sleeve Shirt, which is a $100 pledge reward. Like all of our Alder New York products, this shirt is made in NYC out of high-quality fabrics and materials.
The Linen Patch Shirt is made of cotton denim and linen with cream four-hole buttons. All of our button down shirts from this season feature button plackets and cut corner cuffs with two buttons for adjustable cuff tightness. The double topstitched left breast pocket and single needle topstitched elbow patches are made from 100% linen.
The shirt also has button down collar tips. Each button used to hold down the collar tips is reinforced on the backside with a small button to prevent ripping or possible loss. The backside of the Line Patch Shirt features a double topstitched yoke with a linen locker loop at the center, one of those details for which we are known. Alder's button down shirts are all finished with flat felled seams, a hand sewn finish known for durability and visual cleanliness.
Once again, we are so thankful and lucky to be almost at our goal. We are excited to announce we have started designing our Fall 2013 collection, picking fabrics, designing silhouettes, and prototyping, and we have YOU to thank for getting us here!
Please keep sharing Alder New York’s Kickstarter with anyone you think would like it so we can get to 100% and you can go home with some Alder New York designs!
