Apothecary Kitchen at Mountain
Our goal for doing a Kickstarter campaign is to raise money for Apothecary Kitchen at Mountain.
Apothecary Kitchen is a seasonal, creative eatery that will offer meals, teas and even baby food. Food can be eaten in our beautiful center, taken to go or delivered to your door!
Our focus is on the transformational qualities in food. We base our menu on traditional preparations and seasonal, local dishes. Beyond the slow food movement, Apothecary Kitchen wants to mainstream the ancient practice of eating to nurture our spirit.
We plan to use the funds we raise on Kickstarter to build the kitchen: the ovens, range, utensils, refrigeration, appliances, dishes and eco friendly take-out containers.
We feel there is a need in Brooklyn for Apothecary Kitchen. A need for a place to buy food made in the way you would want to cook at home, if you had the time. Vibrant, organic and alive, the meals at Apothecary Kitchen will allow you to feel good about the food you eat. Brooklyn is home to many very busy and creative New Yorkers, people who are well aware that the food they eat can be vitally important. Our many years of experience have brought us to the understanding that our clients, friends and families are longing for just this type of option in Brooklyn.
Our seasonal menus will focus on traditionally prepared broths, body ecology supporting pickles and drinks like Kombucha, the use of Chinese herbs in traditional preparations like Mugwort dumplings, seasonal greens ( like dandelion and artichoke in the springtime). We will soak and spice whole local grains, and beans. Apothecary Kitchen will use humanely raised meats, local rbgh free dairy and spirit lifting sweets ( try cardamom macaroons with dark chocolate ganache!).
We will cull plants from our roof garden, honey from our bees and expertise from our lives of experience to bring you a way to enter your well-being from many related angles.
Tom McCauley, acupuncturist, chef, beekeeper, surfer and musician is passionate about this exciting adventure. Bringing his passion to fruition is our dream. Offering his art as it relates to food will benefit all of Brooklyn.
We can’t do this without you! Apothecary Kitchen needs your help to be born. It is through the commitment of your support that we can persevere in our goal to bring something unique and needed to the table. Please help us meet or exceed our goal!
Please take a look at the rewards we are offering for your support. We feel there is something for everyone, just like at MOUNTAIN!
Please, please take a moment to share this campaign with your friends. It takes a moment for you, but if each of you share this with someone you know, we can make it to the finish line!
We realize how money is energy, and are so grateful for your support. We hope your help not only allows us to realize our dream, but nourishes you and comes back to you 100 times over. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you, MOUNTAIN thanks you!
Mountain is a community hub offering a synergy of holistic services under one roof. We are especially excited about the heart of Mountain, a creative, seasonal eatery called Apothecary Kitchen. With overlapping focal points that all relate to the vitality of life, Mountain is a synthesis of what we know and love.

Risks and challenges
Our challenges are two fold. For one, we are challenged by our goal to open a synergistic business. A center that defies a cookie cutter description. We are going against the norm of easy-to-describe specialization and instead are creating a certain kind of cross-pollinating ecology. Mountain will be supported by the differing needs and interests of its patrons.
Apothecary Kitchen is the system we have chosen to focus on. It offers delicious healthy food to busy New Yorkers. We feel that focusing on this one component is a good place to start. It allows us to specialize and focus our attention. This does not diminish from the goal of a synergistic business. It is, however allowing us to reach the goal slowly and with care.
Our second challenge is real estate. While writing this campaign, we are still not grounded in a space. Brooklyn has many amazing neighborhoods. We have looked at Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Boerum Hill , Gowanus and Williamsburg. Mostly it comes down to wanting to be accessible and affordable. Zoning and coding is a complicated world and our architects are working hard to give us all the information we need to pick the right spot.
We will keep you posted on how that unfolds.
We can't wait to announce our location and begin to build out the Apothecary Kitchen!
Please help us bring this dream to life!
