I would rly like to get it before end of jan... Plz give us some good news.....

    4. Christopher Dods on December 26, 2012

I received mine as well as one I ordered for my wife. have to say she was more than skeptical about the concept. my wife fell in love with bag at first feel, the quality and workmanship is incredible.

My mother-in-law actually tried to give me money to pay for one of the bags, she said that these will last forever and wanted to be a part of it.

      Awesome. Thanks.

Thanks, Collected Works! My reward arrived yesterday, and all special instructions followed to the letter. They were well-packaged, and all arrived in new condition. The fabrication quality is excellent, the stitching sturdy, and the brass feels warm and solid. The SD clan will be closely following Collected Works in the future, in the hopes of a potentially leather-free rucksack product! :-)

Sean, thanks for checking in. We sent an update to all backers on Nov. 26, notifying you of the delays in production we were experiencing due to Hurricane Sandy.

I just dropped by Last US Bags, our cut and sew shop, and they will have finished all cutting today. They're moving on to sewing tomorrow and are optimistic that we can hit our goal of finishing bags next week to be shipped Dec. 17. This will insure domestic orders arrive before Christmas.

We'll post another update once we know more.

      Thank you for your patience.

Any word on delivery yet? I'm not concerned about timing but I would like to hear from you more often with updates? Your last delivery update here was October 22nd. Please keep us all informed when you can.
Stoked on the bag and can't wait to use it.

    9. Kevin Yi on November 19, 2012

I agree with Christopher. When are these going to be sent? Will we b able to get it before christmas?

    10. Christopher Dods on November 11, 2012

Hey Guys, love the backpack and look forward to receiving it. was hoping you could provide a timing update, no worries on my end if it is later than November, just trying to get a sense of if I can expect to use it for some upcoming travel (first week of December) or if I should buy something temporary in the meantime.

      Pretty stoked on your project!

      Hello Kit -

We will do everything in our power to get your bag to you as early as possible. We have been ordering materials and coordinating with our manufacturer to make sure we get our bags and pouches finished as soon as we can. Thanks again for your support.

    12. Kit Wong on October 20, 2012

I agree, the material and workmanship appears to be of high quality. I'll be camping all through winter and I am hopeful this item will come sooner, as I also intend to use this for my work activities.

Thank you so much for backing our project. And your concern about shipping prices is valid. We went with $40 because we needed to cover our base for the farthest reaching possibilities. As we get closer to shipping we'll discuss a way to make sure that the amount you've paid reflects the actual shipping cost.

That said, the pack and pouches do weigh in at over 3 lbs. This is our first time trying to ship product like this, so we'll see where the numbers wind up.

Thanks again for backing, and thanks for the question.

I finally backed this project! Such a great backpack! Great guarantee! Seems like it will be really durable with great materials it is made of.

However I can't help but wonder why international shipping is an extra $40. That seems like a lot for a backpack. I would honestly prefer it shipped USPS that way there is no extra duty fees at the border. I am sure many other Canadians (if any are backing this) would agree with me. This should cut down the shipping costs, and the final overall cost for me. If you could research this and let me know, if it does cut down the shipping cost, I would appreciate being able to lower my pledge from 435, to anything lower, even if it is like only $5-$20 lower!

Thank you so much and can't wait to receive my backpack!

      Kit -

      Thanks for your question.

The hardware is heavyweight brass. It will develop a nice patina with wear, which gives it a more matte appearance (obviously, if you want to polish those components, they will remain shiny). Neither Jake nor I have experienced any issues with scratching.

If you look at the tenth photograph down on our main page (not counting the video), which shows a closeup of the shoulder straps, you can see how the hardware develops that patina with wear.

Thanks again for your interest and support.

Let us know if we can answer any further questions.

    16. Kit Wong on October 16, 2012

Will the metal buckles, buttons, and zippers come in a matte color in lieu of a gold finish? My assumptions are that the gold finish will scuff easily.

Great looking pack. What is the pack's intended weight capacity? I've had shoulder straps fail at the attachment point to the main bag in the past.

You guys ROCK. Cant wait to start using my new backpack. A great idea to develop a locally made product of such high quality. Exactly what the world needs more of. Have you thought about a line of hats for rainy climates when we all want to be outdoors? Keep moving ahead!!

Thanks for your message. I will be posting an update to address your first question. The short answer is that all four pouches ARE included in the $500 donation level. We just didn't change the copy in the rewards section. I didn't catch it before orders had been placed and you're not allowed to change it after. So you'll be getting all four pouches, don't worry.

Second, our conversations with suppliers and the cut and sew shop point to us shipping in early to mid-November. We're still researching shipping options and the length to ship to you will be a variable.

Thanks for your support! Can't wait to get this backpack in your hands.

      Love ure idea!

Backed ranger tan with three pouches.

Cant wait til it arrive in Melbourne (Australia)

      I have two questions
      1) why isnt the middle poich included in the $500 pledge?
      2) when will you guys be shipping these bags? Going camping in November and want to use this bag!!

Thanks for answering my questions and congratulations!

Thank you so much for your support. The response, the international response in particular, has been overwhelming. Where do you live? We're hoping to build international distribution soon.

We will do our best to take more pictures of the backpack in every day use. You can subscribe to our tumblr, as that is where we'll be posting most of these:

      Look for more coming soon.

just backed the olive backpack! So EXCITED! :D

Congratulation to you guys and thanks for bringing such great and high quality product to us :)

And can you guys upload more picture or the bag from different scenarios and use day-to-day basis pictures? (like the pic of the deck, forest etc.?) For example: on the train, bus, coffee shop...

    23. Willis Gomez on October 3, 2012

never mind about my previous comment, asking about the pictures. I read the entire description.
sorry! its just that i am a more visual shopper than a description type. :)
one of you pictures is the bag turn inside out. ;)
      thanks and congrats again.

      hi there!
first of all, congratulations on bringing to reality you project.
can you guys be a little more specifics on the dimensions of the backpack? i can tell +/- from the video, but it always help to know the actual dimensions to make a more close assessment of how its going to fill and looks once i have it in my hands.
also, can you show more photos of the interior of the bag? pockets layout for example.
