This is a seven-week painting residency where I will create a new body of work that culminates in an exhibition.
I am excited to announce that I have been accepted to Tyler School of Art's Summer Painting Intensive at Temple University in Philadelphia. The Summer Painting Intensive (SPI) is a seven-week (June 11-July 27. Yup, it is soon!) fully immersive studio residency that will offer me the experience to develop my work and studio practice, the chance to work with acclaimed visiting artists, and to produce a new and exciting body of work!
During the year since I received my BFA, my work has moved away from formal abstraction and has become more conceptual, dealing with the body, disfigurement, and women’s rights. The work that I will create while in residency at SPI will be a development of my current series of work, which consists of large drawings and paintings on transparent materials. I plan to create a series of work that expands the current work into painting as installations.
Because this is a residency there is not government financial aid available and I must cover the cost of attendance, travel expenses, and the cost of living in Philadelphia. I have been awarded a merit based scholarship but can only attend if I can fully fund this project! (Keep in mind that Kickstarter is all or nothing in regards to funding).
Please pass the word along to those you know who love and support the arts. This is an opportunity for you to get some original artwork and help out a friend (or maybe a friend of a friend. Or a friend of a friend of a friend. And so on.)
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
