A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. The Neopenx is a revolutionary tool that is going to change the way you measure objects, draw, and create. It is designed to be used by anyone that needs to measure anything especially anything that has a curved line. It is also designed to allow you to draw dimensionally correct curved lines on paper.
This ‘pen’ is both a measuring tool and a drawing tool. Designers, crafters, carpenters, and people who have to measure objects or sketch objects onto paper currently use a ruler and a pen to do their work. The ruler is an accurate tool for measuring a straight line, but when you have to measure a curved line, and you have to get the dimensions completely correct, the straight ruler cannot do the job accurately.
The Neopenx allows you to set the ruler aside and use the innovative measuring wheel on the pen to make accurate measurements of straight lines or curved lines. Then using the same tool you can draw a replica of the lines you measured onto paper to make a pattern, a blueprint, or a pictorial rendition of the object you measured.
Stainless Steel or Brass Construction of the Measuring Wheel
The housing of the pen is made from brass, stainless steel, or aluminum. All three of these metals are long lasting so the tool crafted from them will last longer. These materials increase the longevity of the pen, and they also increase the value of the tool and make it more aesthetically pleasing.
The Neopenx has a stainless steel measuring wheel. This measuring wheel is a round ruler that takes measurements of a surface as it glides over the surface of the object. The round measuring wheel is made from stainless steel because these materials are sturdy materials and by constructing the pen from them the design team of the pen has created a tool that will be reliable for a longer period of time.
The stainless steel can also be cleaned without causing a concern of rust or corrosion, so you never have to worry that your measuring wheel is going to leave unsightly marks on the material you are drawing the design on. This feature means a lot to designers using fabric in their creative process.
2 Sizes of Measuring Wheels
This innovative tool is offered with two different size measuring wheels.
There is a small measuring wheel of 2.5 inches or 6.4cm (64mm). The wheel is marked with 2.5 inches on one side and the 6.4cm on the other side. You would use the small wheel to measure smaller items and also to draw your item sketches accurately on ordinarily sized sheets of paper.
The large measuring wheel is a 4 inch or 10cm (100mm). This larger measuring wheel is perfect for larger things like items of furniture.
How to use the Neopenx to take Measurements
You can use the measuring wheel to measure any straight line, curved line, or circle. Simply follow these steps:
• Select a starting point on the object and slowly roll the measuring wheel over the surface of the object.
• Count how many rotations the measuring wheel makes as it travels over the surface of the object or the sound of ''click''.
• Multiply the number of rotations by the size of the wheel then add remaining units.
For example, The small wheel has a measurement of 2.5 inches.
For each rotation of the wheel add another 2.5 inches.
1 rotation = 2.5 inches
2 rotations = 5 inches
3 rotations = 7.5 inches
To measure a corner, or an angle using the measuring wheel you will add 2.5 inches or 64cm to whatever your wheel rotation count turns out to be.
Example: If you are measuring the inside corner of a wall then you would place the measuring wheel against the wall, glide it over the section you need to measure, add up your rotations and add either 2.5 inches, or 64cm to your final number.
How to use the Neopenx to make Drawings
Drawing with the pen is as simple as pulling the measuring wheel out of the top of the triangular barrel and plug it into the bottom of the barrel. Turn the barrel to the marked starting point on the measuring wheel and start to draw the lines of the object you are drawing.
The measuring wheel will show you the exact dimensions of the line you have drawn so you can make an accurate sketch.
The measuring wheel has a knurled surface to make it glide over surfaces easier so it can get an accurate measurement.
The Neopenx has a triangular shaped barrel. The shape of the barrel reduces hand strain because the triangular shape is more comfortable to hold while you work. You are less likely to have the pen slip out of your grasp while you are working, and you can work for longer periods of time without having stress from gripping your drawing tool.
It can increase the touching area.

We made prototypes using 3D printing techniques and using a CNC Machine. The sketches of the pen were used to make a 3D printed sample and then the CHC machine was used to create the metal prototypes. A laser created the marks on the measuring wheel/ruler.

I believe Kickstarter is a good platform to help me showcase my idea and get investors. To raise funds to help with the cost of molding fee, tooling fee, and the packaging of the product. Moreover, I need to meet the MOQ from the manufacturer.
