I have had no response about the damaged shipment since April 4. I am still hoping to receive some key rings. Does anyone know if TypeBus is still active?

I received a damaged empty envelope about two weeks ago.
I e-mailed a photo of the envelope April 4, but no response yet about replacement.

Got mine, they are light and didn't get all bent up when I put on a big plastic car key. Mahalo

Ya'll might want to make an 'official' update as to the shipping status when you have the time. I was curious as to what was going on and just happened to check the comments.

I look forward to getting mine.

Thanks for the update. Waiting for another one when you ship non-US ones also.

There were some difficulties at the Post Office going back and forth about the correct postage charges. They are finally straightened out. About half of the backers envelopes, mostly US backers, have been shipped out.

We still don't have the update that they are posted. Maybe they weren't able yet.

Just curious where these are at?

    19. TypeBus 3-time creator on

An update has just been posted, we'll start mailing out before the weekend and all backers will get their Titanium key rings by the end of the month.

      Can we get an update?

    21. TypeBus 3-time creator on

Those would be some interesting tests

      Some more tests...
      Smash with a hammer?
Hang some weights off, see how heavy before they unwind/deform/snap. Connecting the rings in a chain might make the results more pronounced.

    23. TypeBus 3-time creator on

A blank key made of Titanium would be more difficult to grind than a normal one.

    24. Arnold A Sitorus on

Titanium key blank? Would it be very hard to grind?

    25. TypeBus 3-time creator on

Titanium key blanks would be a good one! They would compliment each other well.

I enjoy seeing the tests exposing these rings to such extreme conditions. I guess these rings will survive long after my keys and flashlight are destroyed. :)

Maybe for your next project, you can make titanium keys?

    27. TypeBus 3-time creator on

We will keep that in mind when choosing the final design. We also need to consider the cost to label each individual key ring. Our goal is to get them to the end user for the best price possible. Adding too much labeling costs will reflect on the final price for the end user. At the same time we have to consider that if the label looks too cheap it affects the overall appearance of quality. It's a balancing act between cost and appearance to the end user.

    28. Jan Red on

I have to say that one of my favorite things about the TiGr Lock is the simple lgo hang tag that came with it on a key chain. I'd suggest that you consider something similar, it's a label that I will keep rather than discard.

    29. TypeBus 3-time creator on

Those are both really good ideas! The Titanium key ring dimensions are about 1/8 inch thick by 1inch in diameter.

Thanks for the video. I'd like to see the same test required of all iPhone products on Kickstarter. Maybe then here would be fewer of them cluttering up this site. :)

    31. John Loughlin on

Sounds like a great accessory for the TiGr Lock! What are the cross section dimensions?

    32. TypeBus 3-time creator on

Right now we are focusing on a single product. We need to prove this single product meets quality and retail price points before we start on another. A more expanded product line including larger and smaller diameter rings will be sought once we can prove this project a success.

Any plans for smaller diameter rings?

We are going to check into shipping options at the local USPS office today for International backers. Hopefully we will be able to lower our International shipping from the current $10 rate. We realize it is leaning on the higher side and that $10 should easily cover the cost of International shipping. We are just being very cautious to not promise a low rate that will end up having us pay for it out of pocket by eating the cost ourselves.

    35. Missing avatar

      Chris on

I would have gotten more but $10 for shipping per pledge is way too steep mate

    36. TypeBus 3-time creator on

We have updated the project home page and added a FAQ question to address this.

If a backer makes multiple pledges, they are responsible for the shipping costs of each pledge. If 2 pledges for the $10 reward is made, the backer must provide shipping costs for each pledge.

    37. Arnold A Sitorus on

Is the $10 shipping for international applied to any amount of pledges? Some people consider to pledge multiple reward, i.e. 2x$10 or 3x$10.

    38. TypeBus 3-time creator on

It's free shipping for the US. Canada backers add $5 to the total pledge. Other International backers add $10 to the total pledge amount.

    39. Arnold A Sitorus on

How much is shipping to international backers? Or is it only for US? Thanks
