INDO Indonesian Restaurant
Indo is an 85 seat full service Indonesian restaurant, with a Balinese atmosphere in a small lake community; steps from Cass Lake.
Indo is built around the expertise and culture of our Owner/Chef who is from Central Java Indonesia. Indonesian Cuisine is little known in the US (outside of New York and California). Although there is a significant Indonesian population in Ann Arbor, there are no brick and mortar Indonesian restaurants in the area or in the greater Detroit area. As such, our direct competition will be almost nil. Our Chef; Melik Alonzo, has 10 years experience as a Chef in Hong Kong. She was also Executive Chef at Da Nang in Clawson Michigan for the last 6 years. Our Chef has been lauded with awards like “Best Vietnamese Restaurant in the Metro Detroit ” by The Metro Times, Real Detroit, and Hour Magazine. Under her leadership, Da Nang also had write-ups in The Detroit news and Free press, Crain’s Detroit, examiner, Eat it Detroit, the Detroit Jewish news, as well as an appearance on Fox News Cooking Show. She will be on the Fox news cooking show again on December 23rd, between 10:00 and 11:00 am.
The General Manager, Nicholas Alonzo, is a trained Chef. His Career began as a cook at The Whitney, and The 1940 Chop House. He Transitioned to IT consulting, Project Management, and most recently, Point Of Sale, Video Security Systems, and Digital Menu Board and consulting for restaurants.
For many years people have been asking our chef when she will open her own restaurant; the time has come. We found a modest 85 seat 3000 sq ft location in Keego Harbor MI. Keego Harbor is a small picturesque city in Oakland County. Steps away from the shoreline of Cass Lake; the location lies in a vibrant lake community. Renovations to the building are comple, we have our necessary equipment, and decor. We are looking for assistance with advertising, purchasing a few new pieces of equipment, and design decor.
So if you are so able to contribute; in addition to rewards, we thank you for assistance. Also; if you can, please tell others about our project; mention it on Twitter, and Facebook. Thank you for your time.
Risks and challenges
Like many businesses, some of the most challenging obstacles are navigating the bureaucratic red tape of permits, licensing, codes, and other requirements of local and state governments. Cost overruns and finding good reliable help have been some of the most challenging obstacles thus far.
