SPUR is a new line of fine jewelry inspired by physical and imagined narratives. SPUR is entirely dedicated to craftsmanship and our jewelry is constructed to be worn every day.
SPUR jewelry is designed and produced by Simone Paasche. Simone's studio is in Brooklyn, and she works closely with her casters and stone setters in midtown Manhattan. Her work often incorporates non-traditional finishing and stone-setting techniques.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Simone studied jewelry and metalsmithing at the Rhode Island School of Design, and graduated in 2012. She has designed for a men's jewelry label, worked in marketing for a fashion startup, and helped direct a large art gallery in Berlin, Germany. She is now working full-time on the creation of SPUR.
SPUR is playful in its design process but extremely serious about craftsmanship. The designer focuses on solutions based on timeless aesthetics: she finds inspiration in ancient Etruscan and Egyptian designs as well as what is appealing to her in the contemporary art world.
SPUR Jewelry is produced entirely in midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York. All of SPUR’s diamonds are ethically sourced. As a trained jeweler, Simone handles all aspects of SPUR’s production and works on and oversees every single piece of jewelry.
The designer believes that jewelry is strictly personal and should never be commoditized. While this Kickstarter campaign is running she will be working on building a beautiful e-commerce platform that will allow customers to buy directly from SPUR. www.spur.nyc will launch on May 1st, 2015.
Moving forward, SPUR is looking forward to working with clients and repurposing old jewelry they would like to put to use. (If you have an ancient brooch or two that you really can’t stand, but has some great sparkle, let's talk!)
WHY DOES SPUR NEED 15k?
This Kickstarter campaign was created to help with the costs attached to completing and producing the first collection of SPUR jewelry.
Among these costs are:
- Casting first editions of new designs
- Making silicon molds
- Purchasing stones
- Time on CAD milling machines to print out designs
- Studio time at Brooklyn Metal Works
- Metal stamps to officially mark finished pieces with the SPUR logo
- Producing unique packaging
- Taking professional product shots
- Creating SPUR’s first look book
- Finalizing the online shop
Any amount of support you can give is truly appreciated. Launching a fine jewelry label involves many serious startup costs and any support (big or small) helps so much.
This campaign invites you to support SPUR by simply giving to the cause and also offers the unique opportunity to pre-order from a special selection of SPUR's first collection before it launches. (*Note that these are promotional prices and are subject to change on SPUR's official website.)
Please check out the exciting rewards SPUR is offering for this campaign below and on the right-hand side of this page. Feel free to shoot an email if you have any questions: email@example.com
The creation of SPUR so far has involved many exciting collaborations with fellow artists and designers:
- SPUR’s campaign video was shot by the great guys at Good Baby Films
- Top secret SPUR packaging has been designed by furniture designer Katie Stout
- A photo shoot in film shot in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, Germany by the lovely Gabriele Miseikyte
- Logo design by graphic design extraordinaire Roxanne Bello
- SPUR's official product shots will be taken and edited by Kate Cohen
Risks and challenges
This will be SPUR's first time producing work at a larger scale. The designer has previously designed individual pieces for clients, so this kickstarter campaign will put SPUR’s production model to the test. Please be patient if some Items arrive a few days late.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
